Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I'm supposed to receive my video doorbell by Monday. What's the recommended height for installation as I noticed our current doorbell is about door knob height? Thinking about Moving it up 1-2ft to get facial ID.

Edit: I see ring recommends 48" so will raise it to that height unless others think the hikvision rebrands need to go higher than that.

Got my doorbell from Nelly's yesterday, easy install today. One problem, it didn't prompt me to enter a device password. I am trying to use my NVR and it detects the ONVIF through scan but cannot connect to the stream. I suspect because I never setup the PW. However, it did ask for a verification code that I entered during setup. The App on the phone seems to be working although I can not find where to set specific area's to detect motion or really and settings for the camera. any idea's. I use the Survallience station App on my QNAP for my NVR.

Just finished a factory reset on it, when I scan the QR code on the doorbell to add it to the app it never prompts to set device password... when I try to hit the device's webpage I'm prompted for a login. Is there a default user/pw?
 
I tried to install the RCA version, but I get constant ringing with my mechanical doorbell and the camera button flashed like a violet color rapidly. It’s reading 11.5V, do I need a new transformer?

Remove the device from your RCA Security phone app. Perform a reset on the device. After it resets and it's ready to connect to wifi, use RCA phone app to add using the QR code on the cam. Once it finds it, enter in your wifi credentials. After that, it will ask for a password. This will be your web client password (admin / yourpassword). Enter in your password. This will bring you to another screen, scroll down and hit the skip button as shown on this image:

Now you should be able to go into the cam using your web browser.
 
Hi Everyone. This is my first post here, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this post as it helped me make my decision to buy this doorbell(the Nelly version) and figure out how to get it going.

One issue I've seen is that people were having issues with Wifi connecting, and a lot of people seemed to think it might be signal issues. Although that might be the case for some it wasn't for me. But I did have a ton of trouble connecting to the WiFi. I tried a bunch of things like moving an AP closer, even though the signal was already very strong at the front door. It didn't help. I disconnected the doorbell and reconnected it, and it still didn't help. The last thing I tried is to reverse the wires. I still am not convinced that is what fixed it, but as soon as I did that, the WiFi connected in like 5 seconds. I'm not saying that will definitely work for the people having issues, but it's definitely worth a shot.

I also wrote a blog post about my experience. I doubt it will help anyone that has already posted in this thread, but it might help someone that is new to this like me that stumbles across this thread like I did. Here's the link to it.

I'm sorry for a double post, but since it's unrelated to the last, I thought a new one would make things easier to read.

Anyways, what firmware do you guys like the most. It's my understanding that all the firmwares are interchangeable between the different versions of this doorbell. So which company has the best firmware for this doorbell?

My understanding is that the doorbell needs 16vac. What is your transformer rated at?

I believe 48 inches is what is recommended for the Nelly version that I got. That said, I just put it where my old doorbell was so that I wouldn't have to move the wires and patch the old hole. You may want to just try it there and see how that works for you.

I'm going to have to move mine a little bit away from inside corner anyway due to all the IR reflection issue photos I've seen posted by others here. It's about 40" high right now and will try 48" in new spot that will hopefully minimize IR issue since the firmware still doesn't allow us to disable IR.
 
Maybe try cabinet shims. Yeah they're wood, generally cedar, but can be easily cut, stacked and painted to get whatever angle might work best rather than being stuck with just one or two angles, if that's even included.
I have some of those wooden shims and the plastic ones which I think might last longer outside with coat of spray paint to match face cover I choose. It's almost end of January but I still don't see the shims anywhere on the Clare site.

I've been looking at the Ring Pro wedge kits on ebay and they seem fairly close in dimension to the base size of the Hik doorbell. Ring wedges being less than 1/4" smaller in length and height but I'm sure the screw holes probably won't align. Wondering if there is any former Ring Pro with wedge kit who later switched to Hik doorbell can dry fit and post photo of Ring Pro's wedge on back of Hik for reference.

Thanks for the info on the wedge. No wonder I couldn't locate it earlier as it's only bundled in that plus kit. Wonder if it is multiple piece kit like the Ring Pro(15deg, 30deg and 45deg kit for $12 shipped from ebay).
 
So i have a Dahua NVR4108-HS NVR, how do i get ONVIF to work? one of the earlier post indicate ONVIF streaming is working with the latest firmware.... tried connecting on port 8000 and no good...

I did get the RTSP stream to work, but would like to get ONVIF working with the motion detection alert recording and all

seem to get onvif working through port 80... still trying to get motion detection to work on my NVR.... yes the Wifi seem rather weak! My front door cam (which I will be moving to the backyard) have much stronger signals but its pretty much the same location as the door bell

I was able to find the transformer, it was rated 10v. I replaced it with the kit from Home Depot. Now it’s working! Should there be a slight hum coming from the chime box?

A lot of people will have it. With the normal dumb doorbell button, it pretty much just needs the tiniest bit of current flowing to light up that tiny light that most buttons have. That current has to flow through the chime as well since the circuit goes from one transformer lead, to the button, then to the chime, and then to the other transformer lead. That tiny current isn't strong enough to trigger the chime.

However, now you have put something in there that needs a little more current all the time to run(mostly the camera and the WiFi). So that current is enough to create a small hum in a lot of chimes. It's annoying, but not unexpected.

If anyone knows of a chime that's available, that doesn't do this hum please let me know. It's not super loud, but I would like to eliminate it. Would getting a 24vac transformer and chime help with this?
 
Good news. I think I may have a solution to the buzzing in the chime. At least it worked for me. Most chimes should have 3 terminals. One is common, in the middle. The other 2 are for the front door and the back door. Just bridge the front and back door terminals with a wire.

Hello All,

I am building a custom home and the builder is a partner with Clare Controls so I am getting a system (came with cost of home) that has the main hub, garage door module, smart lighting switches in the living room and kitchen, and a smart thermostat. I am trying to decide if I want to go with the Clare Video Doorbell or go ahead and purchase the Nest Hello whenever that comes out. Whats the opinion on it so far? I see some issues with the night time IR quality, but I believe we are going to have plenty of porch light that it should not use the IR (even though I see they cannot be turned off).

The nest doorbell won't be able to integrate with any of the other Clare solutions. That may or may not be a deal breaker for you.
