The climate has been “changing” for about 4 billion years (give or take a few hundred million) Man hasn’t even put a dent in it.

If you want to worry about the apocalypse, see that big yellow thing on fire in the sky? It’s gonna blow someday.....

Trump wants you to think that climate change isn't real because him and the other super rich don't want to curtail their own CO2 generating activities such as driving / owning, big / fast fuel thirsty and polluting cars, fuel thristy yachts, private aeroplanes, huge mansions that take huge amounts of fuel to heat. If you want to see propoganda, you need look no further than your own government. Simple fact is, most of the activities that damage the climate are the activities of the rich and famous. Hence why ckimate denying and no non taxable changes are the main features of Government.

As an individual, unless super rich, you have nothing to lose by making lifesytle changes. Better insualtion and a more efficient boiler / solar, saves you money. An electric car or moreefficient one, does the same. LED light bulbs are waybrighter than even halogen, nevermind filament, but use around 1/5th the electricity and last way longer, what's not to like? Changing away from a 60's boiler and changing all the ligh bulbs in my house saved me 70% of my energy bill overnight.

That statement would IMO have more impact if you hadn't made it look politically biased by singling out Trump. I've been whining for years for the rich and powerful who preach cutting back to lead by example, which they don't. More or less the same story with a lot of the Hollywood types who preach gun control while glorifying gun violence in the shows they make. I'm not the right kind of scientist to be able to gather the raw data and make the determination of how much man's behavior is affecting the climate. But it's pretty easy to see that a lot of those who claim they can make the determination are hypocrites and/or outright frauds.

Oregon Man Arrested Twice in 12 Hours for Starting Fires Near Portland Freeway

Domingo Lopez Jr., 45, was arrested for using a Molotov Cocktail to start the brush fire and booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of reckless burning and second degree disorderly conduct.
Lopez was later released and went on to start six more small fires in the early hours of Monday morning.

Portland police responded shortly after 3:30a.m. to reports of multiple fires burning along the west side of the same freeway.

“Portland Fire and Rescue extinguished three of them while passing community members put out the other three,” police said. “All were caught early.”
Officers found Lopez walking along the shoulder and arrested him again. He was taken to a hospital on a Police Officer Hold for a mental health evaluation. Police confiscated a plastic bottle with a wick and a lighter as evidence.

Lopez is the fifth individual to be arrested on suspicion of arson as fires burn through West Coast states. Two men in Washington state, a man in Oregon and a woman in California have also been arrested.

If people were serious about pollution we should have started changing coal power plants to natural gas with scrubbers and also opening more nuclear plants. Until then all this other stuff people are complaining about is all BS.. Solar and wind power isn't as good as we are led to believe.

Let's see...California has converted, in a major way, to "renewable" energy and have shut down those nasty gas fired generators. They've also let their forests accumulate lots of dead wood and brush for the last 15-20 years. They should be in environmental nirvana by now with all that green stuff going on. Instead, they have rolling blackouts and massive wildfires and are blaming that on President Trump. I guess that makes sense if your a Progressive.

Arrested on suspicion of arson, booked for reckress burning. Is this incompetent journalism with a self-contradicting article, or leftie politics hard at work?

Unfortunately, Liberalism/Socialism/Marxism is an incurable disease of the mind. A vaccine will only incite them, yet again.
I just wish the people so angry with how shitty of a country this place just leave... Go to that country that doesn't have racism or capitalism and has free healthcare..

i am a firm believer that climate change is real and man has either caused it, or exacerbated it. With that said those on the "pro-climate change" side has been shooting themselves in the foot by using hypocrites as their cheer leaders. Leo Dicaprio makes nice speeches in front of the UN but then goes home and lives the lifestyle counter what he just said.

Coal started to get tighter regulations under Obama which did prompt several utilities to make plans to switch from coal to Gas. It also helped that gas was, and still is, dirt cheap as a fuel source.

Nuclear got lambasted by Fukushima sadly. There were several plants under construction, with more planned and then fukushima happened and suddenly people got nervous, and the bottom fell out of the construction market for nuclear. . Plus all the existing plants had to undergo overhauls to make sure a fukushima event couldnt happen here.

California is a textbook example of good intentions with poor execution. They want to go carbon free, which is nice, but they also hate nuclear. So they are forcing their two plants to close. renewables are nice but at the moment they are only a supplemental source and not a primary 24/7 one. Nuclear could be that 24/7 source, but it's "bad"

I just wish the people so angry with how shitty of a country this place just leave... Go to that country that doesn't have racism or capitalism and has free healthcare..
Most of those countries have travel bans on the US due to our covid numbers

And he's not the only one. If the people who preached cutting down on emissions actually practiced it, they might inspire people to follow their example. In general, republican leaders say we don't need to cut back, and they don't cut back. Democrat leaders say we need to cut back, and don't cut back. Whether or not man is changing the climate, my opinion is that the fuel is a resource which we should not squander, and we squander it big time. The ones who preach cutting back squander at least as much as those who don't preach cutting back.

A few random rambling thoughts.

I am a geoscientist and worked in the oil industry for over 35 years. So I have an informed opinion on earth processes based on my training and a little bias based on my profession.

Is climate change real? Of course it is. The earth's climate has always been changing. We have been coming out of an ice age for over 11k years now. Glaciers are retreating and ice caps are melting. They have been doing this since then end of the Pleistocene. This is not caused by humans. It is possible that humans have sped up the melt? Absolutely. But I have looked at a lot of the climate expert's reports and data and find that they are anything but truthful. They pick and choose their data, to the point that if the data does not fit their hypothesis, they do not use it. They routinely 'normalize' data, which is a term used to say if the data don't fit, adjust it until it does. Absolutely none of the climate change (which was originally called global warming) models have been right. None. And they have been doing this for what, 40 years? I use to teach seismic modeling and one of my points was that "all models are wrong, but how wrong are they? Some are useful". The climate models have been so wrong that they are not useful. These folks are getting rich off of government money to 'research climate change'. Of course they are going to find that it is happening. If not, then their grant money dries up and they are out of a job.

A couple of years ago there were memes floating around that made fun of 'climate change deniers'. It basically state that 'a few days, or years of cold temps' did not mean there was no climate issues. But now those same folks are pointing to the fires on the West coast as living proof of climate change brought about by man. I remember as a kid (I am in my 60's) that Cali went through cycles of drought, wild fires, then torrential rains and mud slides. And this has been going on longer than written history can show.

All animals are consumers. But humans are the ultimate consumer. Of course DiCaprio et al tell us that we need to stop consuming, but do not lead by example. Biden flies to give a speech to 18 people and flies back home. The social justice rioters burn cities, contributing to the green house gas and air pollution they say they despise. Years ago I made a comment at a research symposium that one day maybe would become smart enough to not burn our oil but use it in a more intelligent way. I had also said that maybe some day we would be smart enough to design nuclear plants that would not just be high tech water boilers and maybe figure out a way to generate electricity directly from the nuclear reaction. Unless the human population decreases dramatically, the consuming will continue at a huge pace. This consumption will lead to shortages, which will lead to a reduction in population.

Full electric transportation: What kind of electric grid and generating plants would be needed to support this? How much rare earth elements will it take to build all of the batteries for this to happen? Is there even enough known deposits of those minerals? Same goes for solar power replacing coal/oil/gas power plants. What about the environmental impact of mining all of those minerals? The impact of scores more power plants and their transmission lines? If wind and solar are the future, how does one store enough electricity to handle those days when the sun doesn't shine, or at night, and the wind does not blow? Battery farms on a square mile scale?

If you have gotten this far, thanks for reading. This was a rant in no particular order and not well thought out. Just from the top of my head. I am sure it is full of hole and those that are inclined will ask for references, which I won't bother to cite. Have a nice day.
