The Typical picture of a Perp on Nextdoor-type Apps with Consumer Grade Cameras like Ring, Nest, Arlo, Canary, Wyze, etc.

Ring doorbell cam stolen!

WOW middle of the day and look at this poor quality. This was about the best I could freeze frame. Look at the pixelated mess across the entire image as the wifi cannot keep up with the data. And at that close range, a better image of the face and the logo of his shirt should have been able to be read.

Fortunately, the video quality is probably good enough for someone to recognize this person and Ring does provide a free replacement if the doorbell gets stolen. About the only good thing of the Ring LOL.

Now compare that image to an image @tech101 got of a solicitor at the sidewalk. You can clearly make out the face and read the company name on the shirt.

Another comment indicates the HOA might have sent workers to remove unauthorized external attachments.

Hmm, the normal process by the HOA should/would be to fine the homeowner if it's a violation of the Covenants then eventually take them to court if not compliant. Sounds more like it was just plain ol' theft not sanctioned by the HOA. The amount of mental illness in this country is frightening.

These two Ring cam shots are from Nextdoor today. This is what the OP posted asking for help in identifying the perps. This is the quality directly from the OP. I can't vouch for the original Ring quality as the OP did not post that.

These are from two different people on the same night on Nextdoor. Folks seem to think it is the same woman. Do not know what cams these are from. These are the stills that each OP posted.

First of a woman with a gun and flashlight at someone's door. She rang the bell, banged on the door, and tried the handle:

A while later, this happened a few subdivisions over:

woman w gun 3.jpeg woman w gun lpr.jpeg

I am not convinced it is the same person. But the second one supposedly is holding a pistol. Comments were 'nice pic of her' and 'that is a VW Passat'.

Stumbled on these links in another forum. One is a Reolink special.

Great captures. The Reolink watermark in video 1 is a great advertisement for how disappointing the footage is.

It's anybody's guess what brand is being used in the car theft video but i bet you they are re-evaluating their set up.

Here are two more stills posted on Nextdoor. Did not state what cam, but the OP is hoping that someone will recognize the perp.

Latest Nextdoor posting in my area. Guy entered the garage. Motion lights had come on before he opened the gate to the patio. Did not faze him. These stills are the best I can get from the two videos. Only posting one here. Not knowing for sure, but I take it this is a Canary cam bought at Walmart or such.

One of the comments on Nextdoor stated "You got a great face shot. You should blow it up and make posters and place them around the neighborhood. Someone is bound to know him."

Those posters would look great LOL.

While not an endorsement for this camera, this is a better example than most on this thread though that despite its poor quality, if someone knew who this person was, they would be able recognize him from this video based on body type, gait, that sort of thing. But that would then mean a friend snitches on him. If it is a neighbor, he would be recognized by this for those that know him.

Far better to get a better capture that the police could work with, but this example is better than most on this thread.

To be honest, without reading on ipcamtalk and learning about security cameras from all the knowledgeable posters here I would've agree with the comments on Nextdoor, too. :embarrassed:

My expectations and standards for camera quality dramatically changed after spending too much time reading the forums here. Of course, my wallet also getting lighter as the result.

Another Nextdoor posting. These guys(?) pulling mail out of folk's mailboxes, opening it up and throwing it on the ground. Poster and comments state that they will surely be recognized,
and this photo will bring them to justice in court!

I always love those with NVRs that cannot easily export out video and have to take a picture of their monitor (been there LOL it is a royal pain), but even if it were an actual video, not much this can do to find the perps that stole this trailer:

NVRs would be nice to see a standard format that you can export .. the NVRs I have seen often export in a format that works better for LEOs ( better for evidence handling .. not youtube )
