Wonderful Nest getting the capture of a door checker. Wrong camera focal length to capture that far away and too much IR bounce to be of any benefit, probably even coming up the steps.
Hey now! I was out testing a new camera, and my age fogged brain got lost and I wandered into my neighbor's yard, I tripped over his damn decorations, and was trying to catch myself from falling by grabbing the first thing I came in contact with. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
"Yes officier, .. TALL and very skinning, perhaps a meth head, or anorexic .. very boney in fact .. thankfully they put up their left arm and stood still long enough for a high quality image capture .. thankfully I bought Reolink's best set for $400 .. AI and all .. "
I'm going to switch to those new, wonderful, 140 degree FOV SimpliSafe cameras. Heck I'll only need three to cover the entire area all the way around my house instead of the ten I use now. What was I thinking????
Here are three stills that were posted on Nextdoor of a perp's SUV leaving after stealing tools out of a pickup's tool box. No idea of the cam system. Obviously these are zoomed in. One comment was that they could probably resolve the plate with some enhancement.
Just another middle of the night doorchecker caught on a Ring stickup camera.
Love the comment from the OP - "This is just a reminder to LOCK your vehicles. Someone was in our backyard looking into our cars around 3:30am. For some reason the camera didn’t record until they were almost out of view (bottom left) and they are out of view in a split second."
Huh I wonder why the camera didn't record until the last split second....
Too wide of a view.
Trying to do too much with one camera.
Sticking it within 4 feet of a railing that is sending back a ton of IR bounce and messing with the exposure of the rest of the image.
It is wifi - what do you expect - of course it will be a pixelated mess with motion as the wifi can't keep up.
The cam can't record 24/7 so then you may miss something.
Another Ring Spotlight camera to highlight. This guy went thru their shed
The camera didn't get too blinded when the spotlight came on, but shows how it messes with exposure and why we suggest you either run with floodlights on or off and not motion detection:
But then when it does settle back down, it is too dark to make out anything (but you can still notice the big pixel blocks due to it being a wifi camera)
