The Typical picture of a Perp on Nextdoor-type Apps with Consumer Grade Cameras like Ring, Nest, Arlo, Canary, Wyze, etc.

So this guy shows up to steal an Amazon package but sits on the porch to open it up to see if it is worth taking LOL

First thing we notice is because it is motion only, it doesn't start recording until after he has turned around and is leaving

Then why you want to force a camera into either B/W or color. Because he came up apparently it thought it had enough light and switched to color and now it is a black image:

Holy pixelation batman. This is why wifi cams don't work - with motion the data demands go up.

This is as good as it got before the camera then froze for the last 20 seconds of the video:

Whatever it was he liked because apparently he left with it.

Ring to the rescue showing you why wifi and surveillance cameras do not go together. Here are some perps checking car doors. Holy pixel mess batman

OK wifi finally caught up. That makes it much easier to identify these folks that ransacked this vehicle.

It would help if the home owner could mount that camera another 15ft higher. :p

The helicopter view works out well in police videos . . . but not so much at the house.

Our latest Ring to the Rescue:

"At 9:01 our 12ft skeleton was pulled down, his arm stolen and still broken off. Police report filed and video submitted"

But they wouldn't post the video. Several people asked....and here you go....Yep that is really helpful to the police LOL

Ring to the rescue capturing on video a door checker. Again showing how poor wifi is - holy pixel mess batman

Post from someone - "Freeze the frame just after he turns back near the corner post and there is a great profile of him" Watcha think LOL

Ring to the rescue for a middle of the day power tool theft.

Love the comments: "He looked right at your camera and got a great shot of his face"

and "Looked like they are wearing masks"

The video isn't that bad that you can tell he is not wearing a mask LOL.

Identify these two perps? Fortunately for the property owner, if the police are familiar with them, this would be recognize quality for a day shot.

How about this one? No idea on that brand of cam. These 'kids' broke into the lady's garage, stole and killed some of her cats. She is asking for help to identify them. In her post she states:

" I also apologize for the low quality of the video I’m not sure what happened."

We know what happened - it is a wifi camera LOL and it can't keep up with the data demands with motion.

This is why we harp do not use wifi cameras for mission critical applications.

Who knows the camera, but apparently the best shot she could get. Her post: "If you see this person, they just stole all of the candy I had out for trick-or-treaters. The entire bowl, just gone right after I refilled it. Who does that?! That was for children and they stole it all.'"

I am thinking it is the ghost of Michael Jackson :lmao:

Ring to the rescue "catching" a porch pirate. Unfortunately since these are wifi and only record on motion, the OP said that the camera missed recording them coming up on to the porch, so this was all she got. Apparently this person walked around the house looking for stuff to steal but she said her Ring cameras were a blocky blurry mess....wonder why....

Ring caught this guy snooping around and alert notified owner. Owner made a call to the police and found him still on the street and was arrested for outstanding felony warrants.

Compliments of Nest, this was the best picture obtained from the newest TikTok Craze to literally run into garage doors and dent them.

But here is a great example - this person is clearly within a few feet of the camera with IR blazing down on him and you can't make anything out.

I was wondering if the other kid was playing basketball! :winktongue:

Knowing the time of year, it was probably a pumpkin.
