The Typical picture of a Perp on Nextdoor-type Apps with Consumer Grade Cameras like Ring, Nest, Arlo, Canary, Wyze, etc.

I wonder how long until bezos and the like start banking on this ..... pilfering your data, use ai to compare image thru a facial recognition database, alert authorities, get finders fee for saved leo man hours. Bezos....i want my cut...2% is fine.

Garage door denter looks like antoine dodson.

Clearview AI has been the centre of controversy for some time. They were hiding the shadows and some police departments are still using them. They're basically doing all of the above and getting paid.

Figured as much.

Even more reason not to use cloud based.....if your not getting residuals for your footage...your getting screwed.

They offering to put the cams up for free yet? If not that will be next.

Compliments of a Ring doorbell, the OP posted: "Found egg on my car, the only motion we detected last night was this car. The last motion found on the ring was me leaving the house around 7 with nothing on either cars (one being mine and the other being a neighbors) and nothing again until this morning with someone running where you can see the shell on our neighbors car."

Now we all know that recording on motion can certainly miss something, especially kids walking by down the street at that distance. And look at the pixelated mess of the car in motion as the wifi can't keep up:

Who knows which camera, but it is too high and too much IR and taken with a cellphone of a monitor.

At least someone posted: "This picture does little good in identification."

Another good gem LOL: "I have never seen any clear pictures of someone's face or know anyone who has recognized anyone off of a camera. Not even once."

They obviously haven't seen this site or know about better cameras LOL.

Compliments of Ring, here are some 5am door checkers.

Aw man it senses motion but too far away, color will help...nope now you don't even see them:

OK the money shot they are clearly within 10 feet of the camera at this point:

Compliments of Blink, so don't Blink or you miss it. A door checker. Wow look at that wifi not able to keep up with motion - very poor resolution.

As is common with consumer grade wifi cameras, they only record on motion. This is the first snapshot of when the camera was motion activated and missed this person walking up the driveway (not that it would have provided IDENTIFY quality).

Another set of cars being hit by the same people (couldn't tell by the captures LOL). Fortunately one of them was caught and arrested with felony gun charges having a stolen gun. Sadly he was released on his own recognizance the next day. And that is why it keeps happening - perps put back on street before the arresting officers shift is over.

Arlo to the rescue - Anyone recognize the Grinch's cutting this guys cords on his Christmas lights? They cut half of them one night and came back the next night to cut the rest of them.

This guy got hit again by some thieves. 2nd time in a few weeks.

Here is a gem left in the comments:

"I see with my little eye a handicap tag hanging from the mirror. Handicap stickers are registered to certain people. If anyone can magnify that picture you might have a name"

Dude busted out the window and took something from the vehicle. Can anyone tell what brand it is by the text? And they need to fix the timestamp as they said this was 4:20am

Hopefully someone can ID these folks.

Ha ha, nice find Wittaj, someone that has been watching too much CSI again. Maybe if the cameras had infinitie focus and 100mp sensors.....they might get that name off that tag.

Computer zoom and magnify! Hey look it was sideshow bob and I can see his social security number!

The daytime robberies continue. And another Ring failure. This time the camera is too high up and because it is wifi and not recording 24/7, it didn't record this person breaking into the house from the front door and robbing them and instead got the picture of their back leaving with a bag of goods.

And then to add insult to injury, someone (maybe same maybe not) came back 6 days later and did some more robbing and stole their weed whacker. The orange car is his getaway, so that might be a little more noticeable on the road, but without plates, this would be hard for the police to do much.

But this shows the problem with the wide-angle cameras - they make great overview cameras, but you cannot IDENTIFY at distance. They would need one lower or a varifocal optically zoomed in to a pinchpoint, as well as a camera on the side yard going down the driveway.

Compliments of Ring - at least the 3rd time this house has been hit with robbery during daylight hours.

Wyze to the rescue. This homeowner went out to start her vehicle and let it warm up and an opportunistic perp was driving by as she got out of the car and pulled down a house or so and the occupant jumped out and ran up and stole the vehicle. You can see the car in the distance pulled in the driveway. Two cameras but both too far away to do anything other than DETECT.

Compliments of Ring, a middle of the day porch pirate. The dude took his sweet time. Family said they were home. I guess they got tired of false trigger alerts and had them silenced.

Everyone's favorite take a picture of the screen monitor instead of learning how to download video, but even then, the quality of this is so poor it wouldn't have mattered. This person probably did a little digital zoom, but here is another example of a consumer grade camera at optimal height and distance and not being able to capture a clean image.
