indeed, thus the need to combine with alarm / alerts which allow the potential to catch them in the act as well as considering the placement of cameras so that we can hopefully also catch any vehicle and other info which may help ID the suspects.
This is the concept of our company. We can put up the most advanced cameras, but if subjects are not caught in the act, the chances of catching them later on is slim, especially if they are on foot. If you do get lucky enough to capture a vehicle, chances are 50/50 that the vehicle is stolen or the tag is covered or removed. DVRs and NVRs have all of this extra technology built into them, most people don't take the time to fine tune everything to work for them. A simple driveway sensor or even configuring the analitycs built into the camera can dramatically increase the usefulness of a camera system.

The Dahua turrents I have are not gonna be coming off easily for anyone unless they have the torx head tool for it. Only way is gonna be with a hammer.

Other designs are certainly much more secure.
The Dahua Square Face Bullets ( like the Starlight, 4K, and Lorex 4K models ) are very solid, once installed it will be a challenge to move their angle or break their stem ( possible but will require some strength ). Also you will need a hex screw driver to adjust.
The Dahua circular mini-bullet while it has less metal is still strong and you will need a phillips screw driver to adjust the angle. ( Amcrest Circule Mini-bullets iirc are Dahua OEMs )
The Dahua Turret - such as the popular startlight model people like here - with the case and base made out of metal are very solid also, and you will need a hex screw driver to loosen it and to remove it. ( note the cheaper Chinese market version has a plastic base, which should be easier to break / tamper with )
The Dahua Mini-dome - also will need a hex screw driver - 2 screws. If need you could possibly get a security screw to replace the 2.
I keep a passive unit in my tool box, I have melted camera pigtails with them because they will not shut off if say it rains on your test rig when its not support to rain. I would never use them for a full time application because they are Dumb power.
How is it that the picture cut out before he got close to it? do you have the cable exposed?
This is a good reason to have a system that can notify you when a connection is lost....you can in the future wire your home alarm to sound if the cable is cut...
The picture cut out before you would expect from the cable cut because of either a buffering issue or I and P frame compression timing. Basically, the recorder lost the last few seconds of video you would hope to be there because it was incomplete or corrupted and therefore unavailable/tossed out.
