sigh .. this war never should have been started .. oh, well not much we can do about ( that, the start ) anymore ..

KA-52 .. loses tail when drops fuel tanks, and keeps flying ..

It was first hit by a air defense and the pilot then decided to drop the tanks and weapon pod.

That is why the wingman in another Ka-52 is filming it.

But had it been a conventional helicopter, a loss of tail is a guaranteed crash.

In this Ukraine war air defense had the edge against attack helicopters. Only now has the russian side been using them extensively without getting shot. All these while they where using dumb rockets but now they have started to use laser guided ATGM with 8km to 12km range vs 5km range of MANPADS.

Indeed the KA-52 is one solid flying machine ..

looks like Ukraine will have to hit the airbases ..
