I don't see any release notes, and no equivalent yet on the Hikvision Europe site.
It might be the promised Gmail fix.
And maybe some more restrictions ... if they've been paying attention to any new exploits that have got out.
I'll maybe have a peek at it tonight.

I managed to upgrade the firmware on my Hikvision DS-7608N-E2/8P (has 8 poe ports) to current version of 3.4.80 Build 160718 (18th July 2016) hehehehehe .
The firmware file I used was from China hikvision, since the DS-7608N-E2/8P is equivalent to the china version DS-7808N-Ex. I upgraded via the web method thanks to [FONT=&amp]wzhick and alairstairstevenson fanx

Your posts were invaluable. I DID NOT have to use the hiktooks05R1.exe to change the language flag. Just took the plunge and uploaded the chinese firmware via the web console and wola.
I was nervous my language would be reset back to chinese but since its hacked into english already by seller, it worked fine for me.

...I am happy as Larry

Laurence 'Larry' Foley (12 December 1849 – 12 July 1917) was an undefeated champion Australian middleweight boxer. He is known as the 'Father of Australian Boxing' and it is often said that the English idiom "happy as Larry" is a reference to him.[SUP][1][/SUP]

Have you spotted any differences yet - maybe some extra email configuration choices to fix the Gmail TLS requirement?
A Playback timeline on the web GUI including both motion events and continuous might be too much to hope for.

Jacngo, do you remember what software version you came from? Have you ever upgraded your NVR prior to this?
Thank you

There are different colours for Alarm (which seems to include motion and event) and Continuous. I'm just testing now.

No TLS available still.

Update: nope still solid Continuous and no highlighting of events when it does that.

Maybe I've got it setup wrong, will play a bit more but not looking promising.

Plugin version updated to v3.0.6.6. I have no idea if anything else has changed.

Ok I've worked it out and you can filter for motion, intrusion detection, line crossing etc. Big problem though. It doesn't work except for motion and doesn't work if you continuously record. This is despite it saving the dynamic analysis information, so it is there. One step closer I guess.

Stability all fine so far.

It would be so good to be able to have continuous recording with smart events highlighted on the web GUI playback timeline, the best of both worlds.

I'm having a look around the firmware before I actually try this on a device.
I don't want it to go and mess with the NVR bootloader, like adding the 'unrollback' (sic) check - or only accepting signed firmware.
What I do see so far, though, is a new no-rollback check in the main firmware itself.
And a couple more tripwires presumably aimed at breaking modified firmware.

Yes, via the monitor it allows this. It would be great via the Web GUI and I've seen it on cheaper brands so can't see why not.

I think if I ever needed to roll it back then it's going to have to go back to v3.0.8 or something crazy.

Other info would be great. Many thanks again alastair.

Is there anything in this new version that would prevent a roll back? (I always like the option to roll back to my original v3.0.8)

I haven't tested this yet - but the firmware does appear to block rolling back to earlier versions via the web GUI.

That looks like a good range of additional functionality. There were no release notes on the CN site.
We don’t recommend users to upgrade DS-7608NI-I2 and DS-7608NI-I2/8P to V3.4.80 due
to RAM limit.
Strange that the older -Ex series is apparently OK, but not the newer faster bigger -I series.
And that the firmware is labelled 'K51', not 'K41'.
I wonder if they have got mixed up on this.

My NVR is actually 7616N-E2/8P and it worked on that.

"[Double Stream Record]I series NVR supports double stream record, user can configure video stream type in RecordParameters-MoreSettings. Please notice we don’t recommend users to use this function inDS-7608NI-Ix/xP"

I don't think this is a double mistake. Something about the DS-7608NI-I2 it seems.

@Del Boy Questions, questions ...

How much RAM does your NVR have?
I'm wondering if the 7608 models don't have the 500MB that the 7616 models have.
And do you have telnet or serial console access to see the RAM and CPU consumption?

Can you see motion events now as well as continuous on the web GUI Playback timeline?
