Hi guys. Long time....

I recently added 4 Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-AI-V3 cameras to my 12 Dahua cameras. It's obvious these are just rebranded Dahuas. Question is, can I update the firmware on my older Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-Z cameras to theirs? The software is almost identical. Or, is there a newer version of firmware for them? I currently have:

Software VersionBuild DateWeb VersionONVIF Version

V2.800.15OG004.0.R12/3/2020V3.2.1.94816419.12 (V2.7.0.907196)

V2.800.0000018.0.R7/7/2021V3.2.1.108358119.06 (V2.6.1.845551)

2.460.0000.14.R7/20/20173.2.1.47468816.12(V2.3.1.458331)

V2.800.0000010.R8/7/2019V3.2.1.76633416.12 (V3.2.1.766334)

Some of these are still asking for a web plugin in Internet Explorer when attempting to view them by IP address.

Thanks!

Way back 3-4 years ago, there were active forum posts about flashing some of the Amcrests. 1179 may have been one of them as I recall. but the V3 mighta been where it began to get bricked trying to do so.

To clarify, my new cameras are Amcrest. They are:
Software VersionBuild DateWeb VersionONVIF Version

V2.880.00AC003.0.R3/19/2025V3.2.1.220991121.12(V3.1.0.1297355)

I want to update the firmware on my older Dahua cameras listed in the initial post. If I can flash to the Amcrest firmware, that's fine, but they need something more recent than what they came with years ago..

Keep in mind most cameras don't get many updates, and unlikely an update for an older camera would remove the plug-in.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
