Cops arrest suspect who pushed senior woman into fire hydrant in Manhattan (UPDATED)
Cops arrested a suspect who caused an elderly woman to smack her head on a fire hydrant in Manhattan last week.
According to police, at 3:23 p.m. on June 12, a 92-year-old woman was walking on 3rd Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets when she was pushed by an unknown man. The victim fell to the ground and hit her head on a nearby fire hydrant.
The suspect then continued down 3rd Avenue to parts unknown. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.
Following an ongoing investigation, officers arrested 31-year-old Rashid Brimmage and charged him with assault.

Also note, before any Europeans came to the Americas, there was slavery practiced in the Americas.
Once the Europeans came to the America's there were stories of Europeans being enslaved by various Native Americans, and even stories of great African by race explorers being killed by Native Americans.
The world has a brutal history, and far more complex than we typically are taught in school. Not always pretty once you start to dig into it.

One of the major problems is that todays' morals and ethics are being applied to events from a time when morals and ethics were totally different. I can't help but wonder what that will result in, say 100-200 years from now when people look at what is going on today through the same kind of "lens".

The key is PREVENTION.
Everyone should be taught in Drivers Ed. that you do not need to argue with the police - you argue in court.
You have a 5th amendment right to NOT talk to the police at all times.
There is a nice little video you can find if you google "I don't answer questions"
THAT is what I would teach - you do this and you won't be put in any bad situation to start with. Prevention.

Good advice.. unfortunately some police get angry at you when you even reply with "I don't answer questions" when try are attempting to get you to ask potentially incriminating questions. ( such as do you know the speed limit of this road.. )

well, I've talked my way out of a few situations before also but if they ask you something like that - "do you know why I stopped you or the question posed above" You turn it into a question of your own.
"Why did you stop me?" or "What is the speed limit on this road?"
You could proceed with - " I appreciate the job you do and that you have sworn an oath to protect and defend the constitution of the United States which includes my 5th amendment right to not answer any questions"
Just being aware of a few of your rights and knowing that these guys are not your friends during a stop and when to STFU will keep you out of any of the situations we have seen on TV or video lately.
Also, since I have a concealed carry license - whenever I am stopped, I also have it and my drivers license in my hand with both hands outside the window as the officer approaches.
If he asks if I have a weapon - THIS is a question that I will and should answer (without moving my hands). You NEVER have to be a smartass - treat em decent because like it or not - they are in control at this time.

I had a cop pull me over once while I was riding my BMW. He berated and profanely disrespected me-- took everything I had not to tell him to fuck off and call his fucking supervisor. I sat through his ranting- spit-flying bullshit while he finished his tempertantrum. No ticket. I think back on that sometimes and I'm torn on whether one nice solid "Fuck You" would have been worth an expensive Southern California ticket from that prick.

Michigan Democrats Warn Polls Showing Biden Leading Trump Not Reliable
Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are not sold on the polls that show former Vice President Joe Biden with a growing lead over President Donald Trump.
The Democrats made their remarks at a Michigan Women for Biden event on Monday, the Detroit News reported.
“Some people say, ‘Oh, look at the numbers,'” Dingell said. “I don’t believe these numbers.”
Dingell said given the events of the past few months, a lot can unfold over the next few months leading up to November’s election.
“The world is upside down and not one of us on this phone call would have predicted that the world will be as it is today,” she said.
Dingell said she felt the same way about the polls that favored Hillary Clinton over Trump in 2016.
“Four years ago, many of you on this phone call thought that I was nuts,” Dingell said. “I was in enough communities and heard enough people talking that I was very worried about the outcome of that election.”
Fox News reported on a poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal that shows Biden seven points ahead of Trump nationally. A RealClear Politics poll average has Biden up 7.3 points over Trump in Michigan.
Whitmer, who was at one point on the list of Biden’s possible vice presidential picks, agreed with Dingell.
“We don’t want people to get complacent or for people to think showing up in Michigan doesn’t matter,” she said. “I know Joe Biden gets it. I know he’ll be here.”
