US Elections (& Politics) :)

Pelosi lashes out at CNN's Wolf Blitzer as GOP 'apologist' during testy exchange on stalled COVID stimulus
'You're not right on this, Wolf, and I hate to say that to you,' Pelosi tells 'Situation Room' anchor

This is funny. Super lib 'news' person gets scolded by crazy witch. Freak'n hilarious.

Have you seen the information that was obtained from a water damaged MAC book, that belonged to Hunter Biden? And the fact that 'Joe' is still running for POTUS is just f'''''ing wrong on soooo many levels.

^^^ What are you talking about???? He's a Demoncrat Liberal Elitist and therefor can do nothing wrong even if it would result in jail time for anyone else. Shame on you for even implying that he did anything wrong, he's perfect!

term limits and age caps.

I think 18 years (three terms as senator, 9 terms in the house, or a mixture of the two) should be the cap, and no one above say 70 should be able to run for election.

I will go a step further...2 terms (imo 18 years gives them too much power and time to establish their base), cannot make over $200K a year (anything over that and you have probably no clue how the rest of America lives) and NO F%%%%%G LAWYERS!!!! Once you have held two terms, thats it. Period. But I'm just a simple guy.....

Or just randomly select positions like jury duty or military draft. You get your card, you get an all expenses paid trip for 2, 4, or 6 years to the state or national capital. You get paid what you made last year according to your taxes plus cost of living increases (also discourages people from cheating, underreporting on their taxes)

A true government of the people, as it was intended.

As an old fart, 25 going on 72, age limits are a little tough. I think I'm mentally as capable now as when I was 25 but know a hell of a lot more, but at the same time I recognize that physically I'm not in the same shape. This varies widely from person to person, no matter their age. which makes it a tough call. Experience, gained over many years of life, can be very valuable.

My big thing is that political positions were never envisioned by the Founders as a lifetime pursuit but were seen as something that those so motivated would do for a relatively short time. 47 years of it is undoubtedly very corrupting, both morally and mentally. Two, maybe three, terms is more than enough. Selecting by a "draft" might be an option, but that selection would have to be a sort of permission to run for the office and not a direct appointment.

None of the founding fathers dreamed of this. And come on, go in as a bartender and come out a millionaire? Total horseshit. Cap on wealth as well. Far too many questonable and probably illegal benefits. Oh, and lets not forget they get the same health care we all do.

As for the draft, I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED that every American should have to serve for at least 4 years. As for age, I'm 57 so I don't care about age. I do think the voting age should be raised to 21, as well as the draft. But again, that's just me.

That's true, I guess you can't force someone into a position. Maybe have a registration of people interested when they turn 18, like opting in as you do for organ donation.

Or let people decline when they get the postcard, and it goes to the next one in line. But if you decline, you are taken off the list to prevent people from waiting for more desirable offices.

Unfortunately, I did not serve either and consider that to be among the biggest failures of my life. I'm a sci-fi fan, more traditional sci fi, and one of my favorite books is "Starship Troopers" by Heinlein, it wa made into a grade "C" movie that included some T&A and shows up on cable channels every now and then. One of the big parts of the plot in the book, and mentioned in the movie, is that no one who hasn't served can vote. Service and voting are highly regarded.

Israel has a similar policy. Everyone, male and female (pardon the political incorrectness with sexual identities) has to serve and is on reserve once their "formal" service is over. They actually get to take their "weapons of war" home with them, with ammo, so they are prepared in case of an emergency. I think that an arrangement like that, that also includes the right to vote, would put a very quick end to all the "America was never great" thinking that's going on and go a very long way to replace the total lack of civics education that exists in today's educational system.

^^^^I completely agree with you. 4 years of service, pain and discipline and above all else EXPERIENCE would do wonders for MOST Americans. Not all. I loved Star Ship Troopers. Always have. There are MANY, MANY different ways to serve your county...just being a GOOD AMERICAN is far more then (and I hang my head when I say this) most of will evey consider. I want to go nuclear when I hear someone say, 'You join the military for the money and benefits.' F%%%%g idiots. What money and benefits? You join to serve your country, first and foremost!! If you get anything from that, that is WONDERFUL and well earned.

We live in a GREAT COUNTRY. But like ALL COUNTRIES we have made mistakes. It is part of growing up. But these 'Cancel Culture, POS, Liberal ANTIFA/BLM, socialist rioters', can go straight to hell. And I hope they do. OK...I have said enough. Have a great day and be safe out there.

As long as Creey Bidophile isn't POTUS, I don't care. This of all things, as horrible as it is, is a EARLY CHRISTMAS present to the Republican Party.

I have my popcorn and coke (liquid coke, not the type Hunter Biden enjoys) ready to go! SHOWTIME!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!

The point is, his office was used for profit. Emoluments clause, anyone? Bribery charges, anyone? Of course, none of that will happen, but it's nice to think about Creepy Sleepy (Plugs) Biden in the male wing and Hillabeans in the female wing of the same prison.

I still have some popcorn left over the first debate. I guess I will get out and ready.
