Regarding Ukraine, .. you really need to pay attention to nuances and much more.
$8B in USA Military terms is small change .. especially once you consider the cost of failure of Deterrence
Penny wise and Pound foolish. Pay attention to history not the current political sound bites for votes, and you will see better the game.
The USA must not come out of these conflicts being perceived as being weak and incapable of enforcing it's interests.
( This is one of the key reasons why the Biden - Harris administration is a failure .. after Afghanistan we seemed like a big paper tiger .. and Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are taking advantage of it .. )
Much of the money that was "given to Ukraine" was actually allocated to the USA Military to replenish expiring stocks of munitions
Think of it this way ( this also happens, you will notice if you have ever worked for a food bank )
1) Food is close to expire.
2) US Government has a program to give a tax break or actual cash for food donations / purchases for Americans who are in need.
3) Food companies which has surplus of about to expire food, or not well liked food, get the food to the Americans in need.
4) Profit.
This is effectively what happened to a lot of the "money" which wend to Ukraine.
About to expire missiles / artillery shells which the USA would need to spend money on to destroy, instead went to Ukraine to use.
Money then got allocated to the USA to replenish the stock with newly produced munitions.
How much do you think the US Aircraft Carrier task force is burning through each day on Pro-Israeli patrols in the Red Sea area ?
( reportedly it is about $6.5 million per day - which adds up quickly, .. )
How much do you think the costs of Ships having to reroute around Africa thanks to the Russian-Iranian alliance is costing the USA and EU ?
Pay attention to the key shipping routes and potential choke holds in the world.
Iran, China currently in charge of key choke points. This is NOT good for the USA and EU.
