These PC people are trying to apply today's "woke" rules to things and people that operated under a totally different set of rules regarding what was acceptable and proper. If that kind of thinking was applied to everything, think about where medicine or physics would be today, still stuck in the Stone Age. Was what was done back then kind of scary and gruesome, certainly, but AT THE TIME it was more than acceptable under the rules of the day and the same is true of slavery which was practiced by the entire world long before, and after, the North American continent was discovered by Europeans.

I saw a post on another board I follow and it was a picture of a nutritional label on a (wait for it)..........bag of ice. That's how far down the drain this country has gone under this kind of "leadership" by the woke folk. What's next, a nutritional label on a water fountain?

Times like this it is good to go back and review what emerged during other times of turbulence, and review some of the core concepts.. in particular socialism / Marxism / fascism / national socialism.

A lot of people really do not understand in theory what the differences are. ( in practice they all become authoritarian .. )

CHICAGO (CBS)– In what appears to be a widespread, coordinated attack, dozens of stores, banks and other businesses were broken into across downtown Chicago overnight. The looting spread from the Loop, up to the Near North Side.

The unrest started around 11 p.m. Sunday and continued into Monday morning. Video shows multiple cars parked on the streets as people ran out and broke into stores. CBS 2’s Ryan Baker reports that former Bears player Patrick Mannelly witnessed the looting from his high-rise condo and saw cars driving up to a U-Haul truck and putting stolen goods into the trailer.

BLM ‘peaceful protesters’ in Wisconsin attempt to murder Black police officer and his girlfriend

Chants of “Black Lives Matter” were heard outside the home of Wauwatosa police officer Joseph Mensah’s girlfriend’s house Saturday night. Around 50-60 “peaceful protesters” began breaking windows, entering the premises, and shooting at Mensah and his girlfriend with firearms that included at least one shotgun. Mensah is Black. His girlfriend is Black. The children in the home that Black Lives Matter and Antifa “peaceful protesters” were shooting are black.

Cities in Wisconsin are starting to look more like Portland and Seattle as rampant anarchy rules the streets. Neither law enforcement or the people of these communities are safe. The violence and chaos is being perpetrated in the name of Black lives mattering, but the actions do not match the radical leftist rhetoric.

“Last night, protesters came to my girlfriend’s house while I was there, and tried to kill me, Mensah posted on Facebook. “I was unarmed and tried to defend my property and the property of my girlfriend. We were both assaulted, punched, and ultimately shot at several times. A shotgun round missed me by inches.”

You know, Mike, I've been thinking about your post and I do have a comment. There is no need to review systems that don't work, haven't worked and will never work. Everywhere Socialism, in its' many forms, has been tried it has failed miserably. I won't list the countries that have been laid waste by attempts to implement it simply because of the length of that list and we're all familiar with them. Socialism, in every iteration tried, always ends up as a dictatorship run by the elite. It's always interesting to see a new effort being made by a Socialist Savior who proclaims "It will be different under me because I know how to do it right" and it always, always, turns into a despotic mess. Granted, our Representative Republic is doing its' damndest to get there, too, but it has been a much slower progression. Hopefully, this current round of wokeness and socialism, apparently, on the rise will be quelled and eliminated before irreparable damage is done. We can all only hope and support those with a modicum of common sense.

I'm an old combat vet, too. With the Army in Vietnam, with the 101st and Special Forces. I mostly agree with your post, but the NRA has done precious little for gun rights since they've decided to focus on stealing money from their membership instead. Some clubs require NRA membership, but I can't tolerate a corrupt congressman either just because he votes my way now and then.
