Um, no. Our Founding Fathers were much smarter than us in setting us up as a republic, not a democracyGet rid of the electoral college. For a true democracy to exist, let the everyday American citizen vote.
In the Electoral College system, each state gets a certain number of electors based on its total number of representatives in Congress. Each elector casts one electoral vote following the general election; there are a total of 538 electoral votes. The candidate that gets more than half (270) wins the election

The EC needs an overhaul. I do believe that it has value, but the manner in which it is currently works is very self defeating for a lot of people.
Specifically we need to change the winner take all component of the EC, and break it down on a per district basis. If my district goes blue, but my dad's goes red then that should be one vote blue and another vote red. Simply having 1 more vote than the other side changing the course of the election for everyone in that state is nuts.
This would also change the way presidents campaign as they would have to work a bit harder to reach more people instead of courting the voters in the city knowing if they get the big city the entire state will go with it.
while we are at it we should also remove party affiliations from the ballots. If they need the "R" or the "D" next to someone's name to know whether or not to vote for them, then they didn't do enough homework. This would help get more third party candidates elected, IMO, which are necessary for making the two primary parties do better about being decent humans, let alone decent politicians.
Sounds good, but if you do not put an affiliation next to there name it deters people. Some people have an attention expansion that only last a few seconds with selective hearing and seeing.yea if we can get that plus ranked voting i firmly believe we'd start seeing more third party candidates on the ballot.
