Hi

I am new to IP security, but have read a lot and am experienced in IT and DIY, however do not have the time right now to do my own full setup. Thus, i am looking for someone to work with on a paid basis to assist and/or fully implement the design/setup/implementation of my BI configuration. Additionally, hardware advice/design is also welcome.

I need to set up basic/reasonable monitoring/security at 3 small apartment buildings. I anticipate approximately 25-30 cameras and 3 BI setups. Ideally, remote monitoring would be merged (but per my limited knowledge, merged admin/viewing may not be as robust as desired). Be that as it may, all the more reason for an experienced BI guy to work through hardware, design, implementation with me.

The scope is flexible and could range from: 1. general consulting/advise to 2. full config of the IB setups as hard disk images I clone to 3 dedicated BI PCs.

I also need to spec and purchase all hardware for both BI PCs and required cameras, etc, etc. I have made an inquiry on cameras, so that may or may not be covered, depending on pending reply.

If you are VERY knowledgeable and can advise or fully configure on multi-site (but small sites) BI I would like to discuss the engagement. If you are also quite knowledgeable on camera and overall architecture design/layout, all the better.

For reference, my specific use-case is for 3 low-income/special needs properties in Boston. I assure you this will be an interesting and meaningful engagement.

If you are interested, please reply here or PM me.

Thanks!!

I am in Illinois, so probably not going to be a candidate for paid assistance, but am happy to provide assistance/advice if needed.

Please do post here in the forums, you will usually get amazing responses.

I maintain a BI setup for special needs properties, we have 4 'live' cameras and are adding another 8 this month and then probably 20-40+ in the next year split between the current and additional BI installs.
As well, I run BI at my own home...currently ramping up from 5 to 9 cameras.

A couple comments/questions:
1) will it be 25-30 cameras per BI setup or 8-10 cameras per BI setup? it may be the difference between an inexpensive refurbed i5 and a beefier processor.
2) do you have a budget? it is easy to 'break the bank' if you don't.
3) read the Wiki on choosing hardware for Bi Choosing Hardware for Blue Iris | IP Cam Talk
4) use known good cameras. I strongly prefer Dahua but Hikvision cameras are good also. Avoid Reolink, NetSurveillance, and most other 'generic' cameras.
5) use wired cameras, not wifi ones.
6) use a SSD for boot, BI application & database. Use a quality spindle drive (or NAS) for storage of clips/video.

@Edcfish thanks for the reply. Small world, I never expected to find a Special Needs Housing AND BI expert rolled into one ;-)
Most of what I need can be done remotely
Please see my quick replies to your questions in the body of your questions above...
Thanks

could this be done remotely via team viewer by a IPCT tech support agent?
Hi

Yes, I put in a paid support request last night (very early this AM). I look forward to that being confirmed and having an initial discussion to see if that is a good fit.

Thanks

Reading this will get you started on the right path and better help you choose what you need:
IP Cam Talk Wiki | IP Cam Talk

Their are great cams on sale here probably perfect for what you need:
IPCT - IPCT Camera Blowout Sale! 4K bullets for $99, Varifocals for $149, mini domes for $99 & more!

You are going to want to start to figure out all cams you need and then the computer.

There are some nicely priced i7-8700 that should be perfect for your camera setup - 3 total - if you send them a PM they might be able to get you a good deal on purchasing all 3:
Dell Optiplex 7060 SFF i7-8700 8GB 500GB DVD+RW Windows 10 Pro (Open-Box) | eBay

As an eBay Associate IPCamTalk earns from qualifying purchases.

what is your budget.
Doing some quick math. About $15K?

We will see where we land. Too early to know. It will be interesting to reference back to this post and tell you in the end...
