I'm an IT professional but have never installed cameras on a house this big before. There is an attic and whatnot but where would I even begin to drill and mount the cameras at outside? There are several cat5e cables that are preinstalled in the house and they all lead to the 2nd floor master bedroom closet where all the cables terminate at. There's a total of 4 PoE cameras (Laview, similar to Hikvision I hear?) and I want to install two of them in the front and two in the back (One to cover the kids play area and one to cover the door).

Photos are attached. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.IMG_20181130_160643.jpg IMG_20181130_160506.jpg 20170501_183330.jpg

hi @xytechlegit00

I would either get black turrets or paint them black.

From the garage - I would install one camera on each side of the garage door below the lights ( 2 cameras total ) and then one camera as close to the corner of the outer wall of the attached garage next to the front door.

Remember to drill through the mortar not the bricks.

Thanks for this!

These are the cameras https://www.amazon.com/Megapixels-2560x1440-LaView-Security-Surveillance/dp/B06XSQW11J

Would it be better the dome ones or should these work?
Hi @xytechlegit00

At that price point I would look at the Dahua OEM 2MP starlight turret models - in particular the series IPC-HDW42xx or IPC-HDW52xx

I think they will fit the building better - I would paint them to match your home, or get black ones if possible to match the lamps.

I would also get the PBW203 or 204 iirc wall mount.. double check the model and get the right one with the turret.
