What CPU and video card do I need for these 8 cameras - headless?

Hey experts,

I have the following cameras:
  • 1 x 640x480 FI8910W - where it all began
  • 2 x 1.3MP
  • 1 x 1080p
  • 1 x 4MP
  • 1 x 720p
  • 1 x 960p
  • 1 x 3MP
I plan on using my Blue Iris rig to mostly record motion triggered video. I plan to operate it headless, only remote-ing in when there's a situation I need to review.

I might eventually buy 1 more 4MP.

Would an i5 (of what type?) suffice? Or do I need to go to... say... an i7-6700?

Would Intel integrated video suffice - especially since I'm planning to use this headless and direct-to-disk?

Thanks!

any desktop i5 second gen and up...dont use U processors..
your low is low enough to use a modern i3..
go with an i5-6500 and you will have plenty of headroom and a newer reliable system.

I highly recommend anything with an i5-6500 processor in it. That's what I just upgraded to and it runs excellent!

Thanks. I guess I'll scour ebay for some used machines. Not much below $400 on my search query right now. (Except for that HP Pavillion, which I've heard bad things about. Was looking for EliteDesk or Optiplex.)

Not this unit only supports a single hard drive unless you disconnect the dvd play...also windows home vs pro...

Thanks for the catch. Also, apparently it doesn't have a case fan according one of the reviews. Those hard drives will cook!

Not sure about the case fan...these modern systems with integrated video run extremely cool though...its not a bad system otherwise..I actually purchased it for someone who does light gaming because of the better intel hd found on kaby lake...popped an ssd in there and disconnected the hdd...ironically it has room to hold two drives, there is simply no free sata connector..

Oh I just read another review where someone bought an internal SATA card for $30... I guess that's one way to solve the problem!

possibly, but more parts, more hassle..more likely to have issues..
you can buy an i5-6500 based system from dell/hp business for 300 with a 3 year next business day warranty and windows pro...that is a better option...

OK, I've gotta ask - what's your secret to finding these $300 deals? Everything I see in Dell Outlet that's i5-6500 starts at $450 - only slightly less at HP Business Outlet (which btw has one of the worst websites ever)
