What is your experience with Sentry?

All good ideas.

In regards to "do not trigger an alert", that is the current behavior when Sentry is activated. We add all motion detection to the clip list and mark clips containing human activity with icons, but we only send alerts for clips that contain human activity.

You must live in California? ;)

Big Foot is a must have. :)

I’m using the wrong terms. What I would like is to only have motion with Sentry detected people, etc. added to the clip list. This way my clip list would reduce.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I just noticed a configuration checklist on the sentry website that I had not seen before. After reading it, I remembered I still had highlighting enabled. I was already impressed with sentry operation, and now more so after realizing it has been looking through a cloud of blue blocks. I bet its really spot on now that it can see the image without blue blocks in the way. If your like me and hadn't thought about it, turn off your highlighting so sentry can see clearly.

- Some easier way to possibly mark an alert as a false positive or false negative. Maybe a right click on the alert in BI with an option "Report False Negative" or "Report False Positive" as a way to get more examples over the developers to possibly expedite algorithm changes. Or if BI integration isn't available, a portal with Sentry to easily give our Sentry ID and time + time zone to quickly and easily submit the reports for review.

Not only that, but if Sentry is using deep learning vision classification, having the ability for the community to "train/fine tune" it by providing one button feedback would be pretty awesome. You wouldn't need engineers to evaluate each report.

Hi All,

Looking for a few good men (and women)...

So we have our first feature which we would like to beta test with some volunteers. It is a daily summary report that provides a nice synopsis of the activities on your camera for the day. Below are some thoughts of the direction. We have no idea what the final product will look like, so no feedback necessary on below samples.

Right now, we are just looking for a few volunteers to provide us authorization to use their camera data. We will create an assortment of daily summaries and ask you for your thoughts at that time. If you are interested in volunteering, send an email to support@smarthomesentry.com with the following information:

1. I authorize Sentry to use my camera data. <full name>
2. sentry_id
3. email address

Authorization is only for Sentry engineering to use your camera images for the feature, which will in turn only be shared with the corresponding owner of the camera for feedback.

Thanks in advance,

Yup, this is where I said I am....clicking the Subscribe button does nothing for me.

Did you get this resolved? The same thing happened to me, but there were a couple of link locations for 'subscribe'. As I recall, I first used the lower link, and when nothing happened I chose the top-most 'subscribe' link, and then the page returned with the purchase dialog.

With less than a day's use testing the Sentry feature, I am thinking the missing people alerts have to do with the way the cameras are motion-triggered by the size and movement in pixels and percentages, and also how much time is allowed to elapse between alerts.

I'm still trying to figure that out as well. With the default settings, my triggers and alerts work really well with my foscam facing my front door. Seems like the distance away from the door seems just right so that motion is triggered.

However, when I moved the same camera to my bedroom in a much tighter location, the 1080 resolution resulted in me having to move quite a bit along the frame for the motion trigger!?!?!?! Still trying to figure things out regarding viewing area + motion settings + sentry. More to come.

Sentry,

Your order platform appears to be having issues. Trying to upgrade from the trial but the checkout page on Smart Home Sentry, Inc. is not loading.

Edit: After trying about 6 times it finally did load and I was able to complete the purchase.

When I get SMS alerts I get almost a paragraph of extra info in each msg such as "We processed xxx images yesterday....". While the info is good, getting it 100 times daily is redundant, anyway to suppress this?

#1 I really wish there was a way to only show Sentry Alerts in BI.
#2 The iOS BI App does not show the Sentry Icon at all.. which is how I review 95% of my alerts

I don't mind paying for quality software, an even having optional fee based service plans, but I am certainly not going to rent software. One motivation for building my own system was to own what I built, not rent a system. Too bad Senty doesn't just sell their software.
yes, too bad. You can buy AI software that you own - but still have to pay for upgrades and support. That is the beauty of capitalism.
