Who here uses a Mac (all Apple devices in general), and why? Seriously...

I would argue they’re by nature different, apples and oranges.

FaceTime was intended from the beginning as a one to one video “phone call” and uses iPhones built in capability to do that.

Google meeting is 3 simply steps takes an extra 2 minutes but was intended for group “meetings” and collaboration.
For that it works quite well. At former job we used to use it a lot for 10-30 people or so, maybe 5-10 times per day.

Google meet was the business version of Google Duo. Duo was meant for person to person video calling. From Google: "Duo is a simple, fast one-to-one video calling app for everyone—whether you’re on Android or iOS, a fast or slow connection, in New York or New Delhi. Like Allo, Duo is based on your phone number, allowing you to reach anyone in your phonebook. And its simple interface fades away when you’re in a call, so it’s just the two of you."
