How many cameras does OP want?

If it's 6 then get DS-7608NI-E2/8P and save the cash, that's a no-brainer for me. If it's 8 then better to get DS-7616NI-E2/8P or DS-7616NI-E2/16P can have more room to grow.

If you're getting any 4K cameras then splash out on DS-7616NI-I2/16P

That's been fixed for the 7608NI-I2 with the 3.4.82 firmware revision where they have changed the RAM allocation boundary between the CPU and the DSP, which they got a bit wrong first time round.

DS-7608NI-E2/8P supports 8x 4MP cameras no problem. I've written this so many times, I blame Hikvision for not being clearer.

Perfect, with the money you've saved get decent solid copper Cat5 cable (not crappy CCA). That's more important than any of this stuff.
