Old Guy living in the best place in the world (not bragging)(much)(sorry):eek:range:(after all i'm Canadian):peaceful:

Working on a couple of projects and would appreciate help/opinions from time to time

First question:
I want to monitor a 12' wide gate.

From about 90 feet away gives the best face on view

Using a 3MP IP camera is a 12mm lens the best choice?

need to record traffic, to/from a business

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum @Redeye. Look into verifocal Hikvision bullet cameras. I've used them to monitor entrances before and have had good luck w/ them.

Thanks Mike
I'm looking at the Hikvision DS-2CD2232-I5 because of the EXIR, fixed lens just cheaper if I get it right.

Dont forget to look at these cams as well http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014101311390770075.pdf
The i5 will have two exir like the 2232-i5...the i8 will have 4...
They are limited to 4, 6, and 16mm, not 12mm.... at your distance the 16 would probably be better...you may even need more than 16, depending on what you are trying to capture..

Thanks fenderman, I hadn't found those cameras yet. The i8 looks very promising.
I see that Dalepa said that he ordered some last year. Did he get back to you about them?
so much reading...
