New System Set Up
Newbie here. I have set up a few webcams at our local small airport so I have some (very little) experience. We are building a new terminal building at the airport and the manager asked me to set up a new security camera system with 7 – 8 cameras. Looking at Amcrest, Lorex, or Dahua system with a DVR/NVR. POE and Open Source are required and I will use Blue Iris.

One question I can’t find an answer to is do I need a DVR/NVR or can I just dedicate a computer as a server?

I would appreciate any comments and or gottcha’s in setting up a system like this.

Thank in advance to any and all who respond.

Blue Iris on your computer is fine. I have 32 cameras at our facility

Just use a good computer and play with settings to keep the CPU from running high. I use a RAID backup with 3 -16 TB security drives
Hello Andy. Do you sell analog/HDCVI Dahua cameras by any chance? I know this is a very old tech and most people now buy IP, but I cannot afford to replace all the wiring in the large building I'm planning on replacing cameras.
hello I just bought used Dahua DH-SD49425XB-HNR, WEB VersionV3.2.1.1283440.P9 Version ONVIF21.12(V3.1.0.1207744) V2.401.0000000.64.RHNZ_200219_34642 Secure basic versionV2.2

Hey! I just saw your posts on Slickdeals concerning the Paxvigo cams. Hah, though I went in for 2 of them, there was no way I was going to post on that cam here. The last time I posted (quite a while back) on a non name brand cam, I was sort of lambasted enough to not want to again. :p I'm hoping that they are decent at least as they'll fill a "need" I've had for a single wide angle cam in a couple of spots...
Hey Andy. I'm looking for the PFB203W mount (for the camera I won from you!). I live in the EU. You don't use Aliexpress for us in the EU anymore and your new website doesn't ship to EU (yet?).
Email is now the only way to buy from you?
Hi, I have a Hikvision Hilook DVR, I'm trying to find channel 0 on it (which shows all cameras) but it does not work, I tried routes such as "/Streaming/Channels/1" and "/Streaming/Channels/001", I also looked through the DVR settings and found no Channel-0 Options, Could I get some help please? Thanks

You posted your question on a profile where you're likely to not get a response. The Hikvision forum would be more appropriate.

Are you using the complete URL including the RTSP port number with VLC, such as :
rtsp://<user>:<password>@<nvr-ip>:554/Streaming/Channels/001
SpiralIPCT
SpiralIPCT
Sorry there i'm new to this, dont know how it works haha. Yes the URL seems to be in the correct format

I tried:

rtsp://<user>:<password>@192.168.1.50:554/Streaming/Channels/1
and
rtsp://<user>:<password>@192.168.1.50:554/Streaming/Channels/001

Both get an error, however when doing

rtsp://<user>:<password>@192.168.1.50:554/Streaming/Channels/101
It shows channel 1 as expected.

Edit: Also In the Hikvision app, when I enable "Show Channel-Zero" it does not show.
What DVR do you recommend for the following cameras that would provide remote access via local wifi for iMac, iPhone, iPad.
Secure access away from home for portables would be a bonus.

IP4M-1028W connected via ethernet to NETGEAR ORBI Satellite

The following POE devices connected via switch model: AGPS9E8P-AT-96

IP2M-853E
IP2M-853E
IPC-HDW5231

I see this on Amazon but would happily purchase whatever you recommend from you.

Thank you!
Hey, I read in an older post of yours that you use an L3 switch with interVlan routing. I have an L3 switch also and want to put each camera on its own vlan plus the BI PC on another vlan. Not sure if that works the way I want, because I am wondering, if I put everything on their own Vlan but then route it all on the switch, how is that more secure then just having them in the same Vlan? How do you define the ACLs to make sure only wanted traffic is sent to BI?

My Hikvision DVR is not coming online after I have connected it to the internet router it's not showing online on screen I first thought its the LAN port on the DVR but if I connect the DVR to my PC to check if my system will detect it and my computer does detect it even I can see the DVR on SADP but it's not connecting to the internet for remote view purpose

I tried to download the latest firmware for the DVR but I was unable to get its particular firmware even on the Hikvision website

My DVR is Hikvision iDS-7216HQHI-M1/S

I will like your suggestion and advice on how to go about this.
I am liking your solution to use Ubiquiti for networking and Blue Iris for security cameras. Can I send you a PM for further suggestions/advice?

Hello to everyone. I've just joined again. I was on some time ago but I can't remember the email I had. Anyway I need help with a ptz ip camera. One of the Ethernet pins broke off the camera side socket. I cut the cable and used an ethernet socket from another camera. But the colours are different. I want to fix it as its only an old Chinese camera but an excellent copy of hikvision. I can't work out how to add a picture to show the wiring colour's. Jaimz

You won't get a response posting on a profile.
Copy your above post and paste into the "Hikvision" forum.
