What's the IP address range of your router?
You may need to force your PC ip address to match the cameras, and then change the camera IP address.
Set all you cameras to unique IP addresses in correct ip address range, and then you can reset your PC ip address back.
Oh, and just do one camera at time.
Its a fairly common issue.

Stopped by Staples while I was out today and picked up a cat6 cable. It fired right up and BI detected the camera. I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am 99.999% sure I have the termination sequence correct. I will redo the cable again to see if I fix it. I am just snipping off the ground wire. Correct?

Are you using 568B? what ground wire?

One interesting note. The Dahua supplied cd software won't find the camera. I assume I need that software to change the default password.

I'm using cat6a solid strand cable with solid strand connections. There is a uncovered silver wire after stripping the cover. It's not one of the 8 strands.

it can be the best quality cable but if you dont use a 568 standard, it wont work

The monoprice cat6 wire had a ground/drain wire that I just cut, its not used.

You really don't even need the dahua software, you can just log into the cameras with internet explorer, and do everything, including changing the password.

As long as the wires are in the right order, and the little insert is shoved in all the way to the end of the plug, it should work.

Don't use 568A on one end, and 568B on the other.

I agree. I will log in via IE and do that. I will go back and try again. Happy the cable I bought fired the camera up. That makes me happy. I will go back and redo the connections. I'm sure it's something simple. Yes it is the monoprice cat6a cable.

Shouldn't need the cd I throw mine in the trash. All dahua have a default IP address 192.168.1.108 make sure you change this once the camera is up and running.

If you're using STP cable you might as well use shielded plugs.

into an ungrounded plastic plug the camera provides? mebe on the other end if you have a switch w/a chassis ground hooked up correctly.. on the camera side it wont provide a external chassis ground, if you have a junction box or something hook it to the ground screw on that.

Woo-hoo. Got my cable to work correctly. Have no clue what I did differently. Same order same everything. Well obviously not because it worked! Changed the password and ip address and bam, 2 camera's up and running. My daughter and I had fun testing it out with lights on and off to see how the ir worked and all. It's just a matter of tinkering and learning. And as always can't thank everyone enough for quick and very helpful replies.

Make sure you reserve that IP address in your router you don't want the IP address to ever change ! Good to see you got it working.

That's the stuff I need to figure out. I have the managed switch and a wireless router. Question for you gurus. They both are setup with dhcp on. Shouldn't I use one to do that job to avoid conflicts? If so, which route would you take?
