If it's in the alarm in section it looks like you can only trigger a ptz that uses hikvision protocol

Wired Outdoor IP65 Weatherproof Dual PIR + Microwave Alarm Motion Sensors with Wide Angle Lens for GSM PSTN Home Alarm System on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group
This looks promising, since it two PIR's and microwave which is similar to the Bosch TriTech. I'm on the market for outdoor sensors to go with my PTZ and was looking at either Risco or Bosch but at upwards of $300 don't think that is really an option.

Might order one and give it a try perhaps.

If its going under an eave I really think an indoor one will be just fine, they are plastic, and even if you are paranoid, put some silicone alone the seam of the two halves and some round the hole(s) where the wires go in, I'm not sure what else outdoor sensor can do, do they have magical electronics that can handle colder weather than indoor sensors?

It will have some shelter from the eave but it doesn't extend as far compared to the front. Worst thing that could happen is the sensor dies and requires replacement.

Bit more of a dynamic environment outdoors, tree movement and probably the biggest problem varying light due to the sun which could cause it havoc. That's why if these perform fairly well, it'll be worth while and being located in Australia purchasing alarm sensors isn't easy because just about everyone is "trade only" so Aliexpress might be easier for me.

All these PIR's have to be hard wired to the back of the NVR right? Is there a wireless option?

I imagine so. The receiver would still need to be hard wired in to the NVR (mine is a NVR5208-8P-4KS2 and is capable of 4 alarm inputs).
Easier cable runs though. Battery life a consideration as the Bosch models I got are 9V -15V input.

If cost is not an issue, here is a wireless IR & receiver solution with relay that would work.

Amazon.com : Optex TD-20U Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Infrared Transmitter : Security Alarms And Sirens : Electronics

Amazon.com: Optex RC-20U 3 Channel Receiver Chimebox w/ Relay: Home Audio & Theater

Cool. I'll look into it. I'm keeping my NVR in my office so running a lot of cables outside would be challenging.

Thanks

Earlier this week there was a small patch of fine weather which allowed me to mount the corner bracket. I finished running the cable today and with all being well tomorrow it should at long last be installed. With everything going on I forgot to mention I didn't end up purchasing my PFB303W through Andy, since I figured it he was already flooded with requests and even if the bracket was provided free of charge or not it was going to cost me in shipping unless I waited for a slow boat...

Stumbled across a company in Australia selling mounts for VIP Vision (which are re-branded Dahua). Box packaging the same plain style as what I have received from Andy in the past. $50AUD including postage.

The PFB303W not only looks better but solves the problem of what to do with the excess cable. I know people have made it bend to their will but I don't like having a cable which looks like it has been pinched in order to make it fit, thankfully with the new mount you can have your cake and eat it too, with plenty of room allows a natural bend for the cable.

yesssss, that means I can just mount it to anything flat and I'm good to go, still gonna need a pole mount of some sort I think lol.

What hub do you use for zwave stuff to connect it to the nvr?
I don't have an "NVR" per sey, I use blue iris, and the only real option for wiring stuff like that is a stupid sea level device that is expensive and has limited connections. I use a raspberry pi with a zwave USB stick, but I'd imagine you could use any popular hub, smart things, vera, whatever. the pi is not difficult at all to set up though, the domoticz wiki has great step by step setup, and basic stuff is done through a web interface. either way you go, zwave is great. if you need like, instant response time you may not wanna do that then you'd have to look into something else. but if you have no way to wire stuff into your nvr, it's a great option.

Thanks for the tip. I also have Blue Iris that's a good idea. The pi is on my list of things to get.
I love it, I can basically trigger cameras with just about anything, and the pi DOES have gpio pins, I'm not totally sure if you can wire alarm stuff into them or not I need to look into that, I'm sure there is a way though.

Unless I have misunderstood the PTZ has alarm inputs which can be used to directly connect the sensor to it?

Yep. Your situation is quite different. I didn't want mine too high for ID purposes and there was only one real corner on the house where it could go where it would see everything I was after. It isn't discreet but doesn't need to be.
