He's in Poland, they have higher voltage mains than we do.. either way, no power supply of any type is included; abandon your pointless high voltage wiring and just use PoE like a sane person

No, a power supply is rarely included with POE cameras...its a waste...why you ran a 220v line along your ethernet cable is beyond me..
I already have the 220v wire, when the house was built putting one more wire was not a big deal.

Maybe no big deal, but also pointless. You're just going to have to add more equipment on the camera end to force the usage of that external power. Why would you want to buy a converter box for each camera? Just use POE!

Hope I'm asking this in the correct thread, for mounting Dahua turrets under the eve, or on side of house for that matter, I don't necessarily need a junction box as long as I can pass the cables directly behind each turret correct? The IP rating (67) is for the camera out of the box (not in conjunction with a junction box right)? Want the profile to be as slim as possible.

About ready to place an order with Andy and want to have everything covered.

Thanks

I present yet another Dahua Starlight, this time a fixed lens turret.. We'll see how this compares to the Varifocal.. I got a 3.6mm and it'll be going right next to my backdoor to replace my aging 3MP 4300S Bullet.

This is an all metal turret with full range of adjustability for suiting any mounting situation.

I am comparing this camera to the Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z), you can find comparisons with that camera to others early in that thread.

Verdict: This is a very good performer all around, its a lil bit smaller than the varifocal turret.. I think most people should spend the extra $40 and get the Varifocal model, espically if your new to the game.. but if your upgrading or on a severe budget, these could be used as a good second runner up.. You have to get the lens selection right, generally for residential use I find very few places for anything wider than 6mm as getting an ID with a 3.6mm requires the target to be up close and personal.

for +$40 USD more you get better optics and that gives you better performance and flexibility, if you know what your doing and looking to increase profit or meet a strict budget, or timetable then these are fine choices, alot better than any other cheap fixed lens camera for under $150.. and if you have a lot of cameras that $40 Multiplier can eat up alot of money, (10 cameras = $400 saved)

Thanks a bunch, I suspected something wasn't right. I inquired with Andy about ordering a handful of IPC-HDW4231EM-AS this morning : )

Once I order and receive the cameras, where do I get a hold of most recent firmware for them? Is the most recent the stuff in your February post of this camera? Fixes security vulnerabilities?

latest firmware is in first post; along with changelog.. assume there's always security issues and run a VPN Server.

After looking at a couple Dahua websites, I cannot seem to find the firmware on the manufactures website. I know you posted some firmware but what is the source? I accustomed to finding firmware on MFG sites.

Will you be getting a hold of any 6mm?

I was hoping to get 6mm also.

I requested a PayPal invoice via email and I had it within a few days. I did not go straight to his store on AliExpress because he quotes IPcamtalk members better prices on some items.

I ended up ordering
2-IPC-HDW4231EM-AS 3.6mm
2-IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I asked him to contact me when he gets some 6mm IPC-HDW4231EM-AS. The 3.6mm will be for more of an overview. In my short time on this forum, I've learned, among many other things, to be patient with
EMPIRETECANDY;)

I saw you ordering all of these different focal length cameras..very limiting, can only work in the spots you put them in now, if you guessed right, but even then, you can't make fine adjustments, you're stuck at one zoom level. varifocal camera can be fine tuned to the location, and used in different locations later, no guess work, unless you are so far off that you need one of the new cameras that goes out to 35mm or something.

I ordered the following:
2-IPC-HDW4231EM-AS 3.6mm
2-IPC-HDW5231R-Z
The 3.6mm will be for more of an overview of back yard, not for identification. No need for varifocal there. I still need 4 or more cameras but I don't want to kicked out of my house (wife) for purchasing $1K worth of cameras in one shot!

So, yes, I've done my homework and determined I do not need all varifocal models, especially at an additional $55 per camera! This is an ongoing project that will likely never be "finished" as it is also becoming a hobby, an expensive one at that!

Thanks for your input though.
