Hey all,
I have purchased this camera (i think) with Wifi-support.
I can configure the Wifi with the android-app and the camera connects OK and is accessible with its Wifi-ip.
However if I remove the ethernet-plug, the wifi stops working..

So my Wifi-camera only works while ethernet is plugged in.. Anyone experienced this and can offer some help?

This is the camera: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/720P-mini-ip-camera-wifi-940nm-led-Security-Pir-Network-Camera-Night-vision-PIR-IR-IP/32377607824.html

Hello Stalker,

I had and have the same problem. Look at your wifi router if it can handle TKIP algoritme for wireles conections
My cam could only do TKIP and not wpa or else so it could not connect with my router
So look at bothe cam and router algoritme

Sorry for my poor englisch

Do you mean you also have working wifi while ethernet is plugged in?
Because I dont see how TKIP/AES should cause problems when the camera obviously can make a connection, while ethernet is plugged in.
I will however try with different wifi-settings and see what happens.. :)

No wifi does not work it looks lke it works but the data goes via the ethernet
As soon you plug out the ethernet you not find the cam in your network anymore
If so then you got a other problem

Did you check both you modem and camera for the same protocol ??

I now tried with Open wifi (no password), and same thing, camera stops working on both wifi and ethernet IP after disconnecting ethernet cable.

I had problems getting my cheap bullet cameras with the same module in them onto wifi.

There is a second place where you configure the IP address on the wifi interface. If you do not do that it will use DHCP but get a different IP address to the wired connection.

I set them the same, and it works ok, but the camera has to be powered up without the ethernet connected for the wifi to operate on the same IP address. Reconnecting the ethernet seems to get it working in a state where it uses both of them, so when disconnecting the ethernet again, it has to have a power cycle to get everything working on the wifi.

Hi all,
I´m using IP CAMERA VIEWER 3,11 and Windows 7 pro. Can anybody tell me with which name the top-201 will work under this cam viewer? Numerous cams are listed, but unfortunetaly not the top-201.
Thx

I mucked around with plenty of software and wasted a fair bit of time in the past. If you are after some good free software to work with your Top-201, I suggest you download Milesight VMS Lite. It's stand alone and records to your PC only. (not to server etc)
Install the software and then "search device". It will recognize it as an ONVIF Device compatible camera and add it.
There is a "watermark" in the middle of your playback recordings in the software unless you register with them, but not in the actual files recorded to the PC ;)
Download load it from here below:

http://www.milesight.com/product/MS_VMS-Lite.asp

I also recommend using a 12 volt "2 amp" power supply as most IP cameras require the extra current for proper functioning.

Good Luck

@Jargo,
yes indeed, it´s a nice software to use with the top 201 cam. Only problem, I have 3 types of camera, 1 top 201, 1 Foscam (9009?) and 2 Wansview 536. During the searching option Milesigth will offer and connect the Foscam but not the Wansview cams. Manually the IP and Ports are not accepted by Milesight.

Another item is making me a little bit of headache: the foscam and top201 cams are listed as Onvif devices. The top201 as a NVT with port access 8899, whereas the foscam is a IPC Model with port 888. I know, I´m not an expert, but why is it possible to get access via the ports 8899 and 888 where I configured the cams under 5 digit ports numbers (???55 and ???56). Any way to block these ports 888 and 8899?

Best regards

I'm sorry I can't help you much more cyanno. I do remember mucking around with IP CAM VIEWER and never succeeding.

I have 3 cams and they are all ONVIF compliant. I got frustrated with trying new software and wasting hours of my time trying to set them up. I do enjoy a challenge with computers, but I couldn't be bothered anymore. That's when I stumbled upon Milesight VMS Lite. It's stable and suits me fine.

Hopefully someone else maybe able to assist you in some way...

Hi guys, someone has the firmware HI3518E_50H10L_S39 (must be S39)???
PCB print: BLK18E-0712C-38X38_S V1.01 + a 10 digit number.
I've lost my IPC admin password and the only way I can put it back to work is flashing the EEPROM with the original firmware (I have the EEPROM programmer hardware), but I can't find anywhere.
Can u help???

@thiago,
but I do understand. Today I helped akkyyo with resetting his Top 201. Just be sending him a tool I found in this Forum. Don´t ask me exactly where i found it, this would take me too much of time. The Tool needs the correct IP of the camera and will reset the Top 201. I have this tool in a zip form, unfortunately I cannot (?) attach this tool here. If you are interested just send me your mail via PN and you will get it.
Perhaps someone knows the URL where to get this tool, this would be easier.
Anyhow I was wondering why you choosed a complicated way via Eeprom....
