Sorry about that. I bought without researching. I thought it was a PTZ. In the Black Friday thread, I just bought on impulse. Of course, access points come with POE injectors. It's a TP Link. I do appreciate your help. Thanks a million.
Damn...there was a BF thread?

Di-electric grease in the rj45 Would have most likely prevented this.
For reference, do you terminate the RJ-45 first and then shove the dielectric grease in the end of the connector around the conductor and the plastic "barrel".

Or is this used in between the male and female RJ-45 connections inside the waterproof "boot"?

Thanks.

Mark

After reading most of this thread, I want to add 2 and replace one camera in my system. I have the
HIKVISION DS-7608NI-E2/8P 8CH PoE NVR Network Video Recorder with 2 hikvision cameras, 2 Longsee (low light destroyer) (one is dead) and 2 dahuas. Will the IPC-HDW5231R-Z operate with my NVR, or will I need to set up the SD card and access thru a browser. I'm still a newby trying to learn.
Thanks for your help.

Put a dab in the female RJ45 on the contacts, then connect the male end.

@t84a...
This makes no sense... access points don't come with 'injectors'. They come 'Power supplies' (i.e. 'wall wart') maybe.
...
I'm worn out..g'nite!
Ubiquiti Unifi Access Points come with PoE Injectors so before going off on people you should be careful you are not inaccurate in your own statements.

Well 'cuse me, noob. Those are PASSIVE POE injectors. IP cams use IEEE 802.3af at 48v not 24 or 12 about 99.99% of the time.
And I've probably installed more Ubiquiti CPE gear than you've ever seen in your lifetime.
And another thing..you don't know me well enough to know when I am 'going off' on anybody.
And lastly.....I wasn't talking to you!

Even if they were Passive, you said the "APs don't come with Injectors, but power supply wall-warts" which is incorrect. Had you said something like... "that is likely a passive injector where you need an active injector" that would have been correct.
And if you post incorrect information, it is not only the OP that has the right to correct you.

It's more likely that it's just the connector that's damaged.
There are various options to fix the cable, such as a punch-down block or a full cable replacement, depending on how much effort you, or the person you sell it on to, wants to invest :
Example for Hikvision - Dahua colours will be different - grafting on a new end to the cable: Replacing a Faulty Hikvision PoE Connector
You are right, the camera is fine, but it only works with the DC power supply connection. That’s fine, I’m going to find a place in the house for it. Now my problem is, I can’t find the 3 screws I took off the camera, I think it might be a 3mm screw. Off to Lowe’s to find some screws. Thanks for the help.

Please help. I have court Friday, I'm the victim and need to use my security footage as evidence.
I downloaded the .DAV file from my Dahua NVR, but what do I do now?
I've tried converting it to .avi but the resulting file is always 0 bytes. The source file is 2.7gb.

How do I get this file to play on VLC or Windows Media Player?

Install SmartPSS from Dahua, then export the video with it to Mpg4.

It's been "Loading" for 5 minutes... it loads instantly in SmartPSS though. Sigh. Is there really no way to convert dav to avi? How am I going to show this file in court? I don't have a laptop. I planned on bringing a flash drive with the file.
