Hear is a snippit I gleaned from E-Bay about this camera, My highlights are in HOT pink, after reading the specs, it has a 1/2.8 Aptina sensor and if you read below it also has a 1/3" Aptina and yes at least they kindly say NO upgrade from Dahua. After looking at this and If for some reason you buy it ...well you have been warned.

Ok !

Thanks for the replies and the warning :highfive:
Hi Galaksy

I know there is a lot of tempting options on Aliexpress, ebay, Amazon for very affordable prices. Numerous different model numbers. I know I spent a lot of time looking at every option at first, and in the end decided it was better to go with more popular cameras which others with more experience than I have. It makes it easier as I can learn from what they are sharing here - and in return share to others what I learn.

To make it easier I suggest going to Andy's Aliexpress store ( empire or BEC ) and looking at the models he has and picking from those, or the models which we have been reviewing. Yes, I know they will cost a bit more than some of the hacked Chinese market models you see. Better international models you will typically get less headaches as Andy helps us with getting firmware updates on the more popular models, and thus when you update the firmware or have to go back to the factory default it does not automatically jump back into Chinese.

I have a question in response to the warnings on Chinese versions of Dahua.
Say I buy a couple and I use them using Blue Iris. Does it matter even if I upgrade them and they revert to the chinese version given I am accessing them through an English version of Blue Iris?

if they actually work with no hiccups then no..however they are poor for low light and nightvision..spend a bit more for a starlight camera.
