Thanks mat200

I have only set up one camera at the moment, i would only be viewing 1 stream at at time anyway in 4k, even when all are setup, so its not a major issue.

It is the quality of the picture that matters significantly if your buying 4k, you would expect a excellent image. At the moment i still see alot of pixalisation. Tomorrow i will look at it via the camera direct from a computer to see what happens as maybe its the nvr processing thats causing this.

Its hard to know what to expect as only had the 2mb swan cameras before.

Thanks again
Hi Night Owl,

You should be able to see a 4K stream on the NVR - check the setting, they may have defaulted it to handle multiple 4K streams.

Please see the thread
FYI - Some local Costco B&M have a Lorex / Dahua OEM 4K 6x camera kit and 8 port NVR for $800

Look at #87

If the kit is the same as in the USA - we have been unable to determine how to enable the ONVIF on the cameras - the camera does have an rtsp feed thus you can use Blue Iris and other 3rd party products with it, the NVR should support ONVIF cameras.

Looking at the pricing and the known small things that are missing / not available:

No ONVIF/P2P and 4K Picture not good for night vision, 50 Metre range needed in dark etc

What are your thoughts on

1 * NVR4108-8P-4KS2 with 2GB+ Drive fitted
1 * IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 (To handle the long range night vision part)
4 * 5MP or Higher i.e 4K Cameras to be advised i.e what is recommended in the dahua range etc.

I am thinking if I ordered from Andy, the total cost may not be that much greater than the original price I paid for the Costco kit i.e £840

Many Thanks.

Hi Night Owl,

You'll need to determine what your requirements are. Once you've determined that it is easier to pick your cameras.

If low light images are important then I like the Dahua Starlight cameras.
If day light images are important then I like the Dahua 4K cameras.
If you need to ID suspects at greater than 12.5 feet away for a 1080p camera get a varifocal or > 3.6mm lens. ( or 25 feet for a 4K camera )

Easiest to just get varifocals to customize your views as needed.

Hi,

Any 4K Dahua Bullet cameras you would recommend, sounds as a want excellent day and night, i will need to combine 2 cameras next to each other for the problem area i.e 50 metre garden. 1 being the IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 and one being a recommended 4K

I guess the IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 is a must, even if i just add it onto the Costco kit. If the Costco Cameras bang for buck is better than a Dahua 4K Bullet Camera I would need your guidance on.

IPC-HFW81230E-Z, very nice, guess the dream camera, well above my pocket :)
IPC-HFW4830E Only £114 each and may be better than the Lorex Cams ?

1 * NVR4108-8P-4KS2 with 2GB+ Drive fitted = £188
1 * IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 (To handle the long range night vision part) = £128
4 * IPC-HFW4830E 4K = £114.37 each * 4 = £456

Total = £772

Any thing you would swap out opr not as good as good as the Costco kit ?

Hi Night-Owl,

The individual international models should be as good if not better than the parts in the Lorex Costco kit.
( certainly the cameras will be better as they will support IVS features - I would have to double check the NVR for IVS support - I know NVR52xx models support IVS )

Hello

I am going to order a starlight of Andy, the way i look at it is I will need one for the 50-60 metre garden anyway, if i decide to add it on to the Costco bundle or as part of the above.

I was about to buy IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 when i noticed comments about the size including the 100 metre range. I only need 50-60 metre varifocal in as small footprint as viable. Is their such ?.

Thanks

Hello.

I received the camera above a couple of days ago , top notch service by Andy.

I have placed it in the same position the old Swann BNC 2mp was. The picture is clearer at a long range view i.e around 40 metres. I do not need it zoomed in at all. However i am disapointed at the range of the night vision. Being capable of 100 metres and the very back of my garden where the gates are being 60 metres max. I was expecting a very clear bright picture but as you can see by the photo taken from it, i can hardly make out the gates at all. I can only think the IR is getting blocked by the cabin ?. Ideas please. Also setting it up with the lorex was easy, keep it in private mode on port 37777 and connected or use onvif on port 80 i.e http port and connects in tcp mode. In private mode you get most functions but i noticed a software bug on NVR where on 8 camera viewing it does not show the camera but does on 4 or single viewing. This issue is only when connected on private mode on port 37777, in onvif mode it works fine but loses alot of control. I know how good this camera should be and the Swan had no issues, so expecting something simple fix ?.

Hello.

I contacted Lorex today as the NVR loses the ability to display some cameras if you lower the megapixels and up the fps to say 20 fps, the more you up the fps the more cameras you lose so expect this is the NVR not being powerfull anough. First the new camera was blaimed then i was told the lorex cameras were fixed to 4k at 15 fps so changing the mega pixels or fps does nothing and then finally that their is a new firmware being 00022 out. But only lorex can send firmware as they stopped them being available on their site. I am waiting to be sent this new firmware as their link to it was down at the time of call. I was thinking this new firmware may be usefull information and it seems you will have to call the tech supporf to get it, unless someone has a back door to get the file :).

I am not sure if to beleive the info about fixed 4k 15fps or not. when i up the fps the motion is alot better so either my eyes are deceiving me or the info is wrong.

Hope it helps

You are getting a lot of IR reflection from what I guess is a roof just below the cam. That is causing the cam to not set it's exposure properly.
Also decreasing the amount of IR it is projecting. Not sure why you would want half the pic devoted to viewing a roof.

Thanks looney2ns.

The cam is arround the 2 floor window area and i have a large 1st floor extension. Hence the flat roof. I can raise the camera angle slightly to help. I was trying to avoid it looking into the house windows opposite and also keep a nice angle to catch just my area. But i can easily adjust and just block out the windows using the privacy function. Thank you very much.

I turned the IR off, have not touched the camera physically at all and enclose a new pic. big improvment. The light you see at the back i expect is coming from the IR of another camera their :)

yes, that is because the ir is no longer reflecting...your image would improve significantly if you took looneys advice..

Just was a quick test last night as too late to adjust manually, much appreciated.

Adjusted camera angle and can now see how good the starlight cameras are :) pic attached and for reference the lorex cam pic which is near the end of the garden only 20 metres max from gates.
