We observed this subject move through the property with a pistol in his hand. He made contact with another resident, who was taking his dogs for a late night walk. The two subjects had a short conversation and went back to their apartments. We notified the property management team in the morning. The problems that were occurring at this property previously, were coming from non-residents and people jumping the fence to break into cars in the garage.

Thanks again, @bababouy .
Man, I think this guy has had waaay too much to drink and is showing very poor judgment, IMO.
I'm not so sure I would have been as tolerant as the dogwalker (maybe he knew him well), especially when he pops out from behind a pillar holding a gun. Of course, we don't know what was said between the two.
But I'm pretty sure my right hand would have already been in my pocket with a grip on my .380, hoping for the best but expecting the worse.
My first thought, when he was on the elevator, was that he was going to kill himself. His chance meeting with the dogs may have saved his life...for now. I guess we may never know.
Either way, looks like he needs some help and I hope he gets it.

Looks like the dog walker could have known the guy. Someone walking around with a gun like that has probably done some crazy shit before this, might be the apartment drunk?

That would almost have to explain it...he's done it before AND the guy knows him (more like 'knows of him', would likely prefer NOT to ).

I am not sure if i understand. From what I read there were problems with non-residents breaking into cars inside the garage. It seems this resident had a drink that night and wanted to check if his car was alright. Since he clearly did not feel save he took his gun to check if there were people in the garage.

Thanks again, @bababouy .

Once he checked and everything was okay he went up again into the elevator. On his way he bumped into his neighbor who was walking the dogies.
I am just happy for the people involved. This clearly could have turned ugly.

If it is allowed and you have a permit I guess you can walk around and 'protect' your belongings. Even if it endangers the life of innocent people. It is something which is, for me, hard to understand. Where I live (and I clearly want to state I not want to ridicule your country, but here we have law enforcement who's job it is to carry weapons). It makes me think of Janet Jackson showing her nipple on national television during the super bowl. The country was in shock and awe, right. At the same time havin' the biggest pron industry in the world makes one wonder. Especially when children on high schools shoot themselves.

Just like you guys I am an enthusiastic when it comes to nice cameras but let's be honest. The best camera's in the world cannot prevent accidents from happening' when every man, woman or child can carry a gun. Yes it is true, good footage is gathered. Crystal clear.

Yes law enforcement carries a gun where you live....how long does it take them to respond - youll be dead way before you reach for your phone? This has been discussed in many threads over again, the data is clear that gun ownership reduces crime.....accidents happen, but im sure you are legally allowed to drive a car, dig a swimming pool and ride your bike...in the US many of us (and cetainly the founding fathers) believe we should have the right to protect ourselves and our families. You likely dont have a constitutional freedom of speech where you live either...well we do.

I cant think of any state in the USA where what the nut job with the gun did would be legal. Even open carry states dont permit walking around in public fondling your handgun.

He was very lucky, and should be paid a visit at minimum to insure he understands firearm laws, and is of sound mind.

If so he went about addressing his concerns in the wrong way and showed very poor judgment. If he holds a carry permit he could lose it under those circumstances in my state.

I live in a very 'gun friendly' state (Alabama) and it's not legal here to walk around carrying a pistol in your hand if you are drunk!

Good way to get shot. LEO arriving on-scene aren't going to spend a lot of time trying to probe the possible shades of gray when there's some guy walking around with a loaded pistol in his hand. He might get one single shouted command to drop the gun—which he might not hear correctly or immediately grasp, particularly if he's had too much to drink. Then, game over. If you carry, always carry on your body. Never in your hand.

We agree. The situation turned out ok. I think if we would have dispatched P.D. we would of had a different outcome.

"Brandishing", all by itself is a crime here. And we don't even need a permit to carry concealed (or open) here (Wyoming). But that guy would have been arrested here for doing what he was doing. And rightly so. You can carry, open or concealed, but you cannot brandish. And the carry statute specifically mentions intoxication, etc. If caught, that man would have faced charges, conviction on which would have lost him is privileges to own or carry any gun from then on. Here, though, we are presumed innocent until proven guilty. So if you're of age, and meet the other requirements, you don't need any special permit to own or carry a gun.

I'm not sure where you live, but remember that what gets reported by the likes of the BBC is often extremely biased. I listen to the BBC some because our local public radio station carries the BBC from midnight to 8am our time, and I frequently work nights, and find it fascinating. I still don't understand Cricket, and am not a soccer fan, but it's nice to hear all of the news from the UK's current and former colonies. But, their liberal bias is notorious, so (again, assuming you're in the UK or somewhere where you get "news" from the BBC) just take a lot of their opinion and cherry-picked "news" and hand-picked "statistics" with a huge grain of salt! Keep in mind how that coverage is funded, and who stands to benefit from manipulation of public opinion. It's the same everywhere, and always has been. We certainly suffer from that same sort of institutionalized bias here, too.

In places where you are allowed to be armed, and to defend yourself, the outcome is very clear: Crime is far lower. In areas where gun ownership is highly restricted, the outcome is also very clear: Those are the areas with the MOST crime, including "gun crime".

Laws against gun ownership are, as with any laws, only obeyed by law-abiding citizens. If you're willing to commit a robbery, rape, or murder, why would you be stopped from obtaining or using a gun by the mere fact that doing so would be illegal? I can just imagine a would-be criminal thinking: "I don't mind committing a murder, and I don't mind committing a robbery or rape, but darn, those gun laws really have me worried!" That makes no sense. And the idea that restricting legal gun ownership somehow removes or reduces the availability of guns to criminals is also preposterous on the very face of it.

Yes, guns are inherently dangerous. And yes, they are a convenient and easy way to commit suicide, and certainly, otherwise law abiding citizens do use them in "crimes of passion", etc. None of that is in dispute. But remember that there are infinite ways of committing suicide and infinite weapons or ways of committing crimes of passion, etc. The hope is that allowing gun ownership and carry by virtually all law-abiding and competent citizens is to put everyone on equal footing. A petite woman should not be at the mercy of a large thug, and an individual alone should not be at the mercy of a gang of thugs, etc.

But a drunk guy brandishing a gun in his hands while staggering around a parking garage? That's not legal, even here in the wild west! Give us a little credit, please! We may be rednecks, but we're not a nation or state of complete unthinking, unreasonable idiots!

I hear you @J Sigmo and I am not here on this board to argue. As a matter of fact I am a very much fan of the US. Have visited many places in your country and I know, the differences between them are 'HUGE'..

I am sure you guys (as well as all around the globe), we all know what the impact of 'fake news', can be. Repeating the same (false) statements over and over again and people start to believe. Moreover there are more interests then the eye can meet. I am in 'no way' a pacific person. Actually, I have seen a lot of places where I would not like to live myself and consider 'looking into something to make me feel a little safer'. In the US but also here in Europe or Asia or Africa. Do I think it would help if everybody is carrying ' a piece'. Would it make me feel more save? No, not really. That the 'weapon industry' and everybody else who makes out a living from it wants to make me believe so, ofcourse, I do understand. But again, not here to argue and yes, everybody is (what I am concerned) entitled to their own (biased or not) opinion.

You likely dont have a constitutional freedom of speech where you live either...well we do
I am sorry if people feel personally attacked or if they feel they have to defend their country because of things I write/wrote. Actually, in the country where I've been born (the Netherlands) as well as the country where I momentarily live (Germany), we do have freedom of speech. I respect people's opinion also when they differ from mine @fenderman

Maybe. I probably do not know the facts as well as you do.

What I did read after this thread is:
'It is clearly in the interests of children and families to reduce gun violence in the United States. Each day, on an average, 13 children under the age of 19 are killed by gunfire and more are injured'. (source Cliffsnotes)

Some people mind think after reading this. Something has to been done. Maybe we should think it over (also when this has been done over and over again and also when you think, man, you do not know what you are talking about..). Argues pro and contra. Some people might think; 'where wood is chopped splinters must fall'! As a father myself it makes me think. At least it is something which makes me to respond to this thread.

What I also read after this thread is:
Homicide is the second leading cause of death for youths 10–19 years old. For black males of this age, it's the No.1 cause of death. (source Cliffsnotes)

I realize maybe for some people this last aspect alone might be reason not concerned to read further into the matter. I don't know. In the end of the day there comes a time we have to face reality or what that matters, ourselves, in the mirror.

Yes, it probably would be easier to not respond because I know it can upset people. Again, sorry. Not want to sort stress here. I am sure there are a lot scientifically studies in favor pro 'weapon industry' and contra. I do not need to be convinced. Everybody wants to protect their property, themselves and even more, loved ones. Just not sure if this weaponry helps. Claiming absolute truth, more weapons, less crime? I do not believe it. If you do, Fine!

When you have tortured yourself by reading till here, thank you and sorry for my bad (english)writing.

Talk about fake news...just a bunch of nonsense you posted... you realize that the 13 deaths per day of the children include those murdered by criminals in cities with the strictest gun control...most of the country sees ZERO gun violence....get your facts straight..posting from cliffnotes, what a joke...
How about the amount of people that are saved by gunfire... How many how many children die in car accidents or drown in pool's... what about knives, plastic only? More weapons in the hands of law-abiding gun owners does reduce crime as the statistics clearly show... Just because you refuse to believe hard facts doesn't make them any less true... So keep being foolish and bury your head in the sand.. you're not upsetting anyone you're proving a point... You haven't read the statistics and you haven't thought this through logically... You just come to conclusions based on what makes you feel good rather than what actually is good....typical European...think a bit and you will realize how dumb you sound...

There in lies the problem, don't think. Just follow along like good sheeple, thats how the liberal leadership wants its subjects. They will protect you from yourselves with laws and regulations, like warning labels on products that any sensible person should know better to not put in their mouths.
I think we need to outlaw Tide Pods!

Absolutely! And spoons (they make people fat) and pencils (they misspell words).
We're too stupid to protect ourselves or know what's best for us.

I recall a bit when Jay Leno hosted 'The Tonight Show' (before the far left took over all network late night shows and the media in general) where he read the label for Preparation H for hemorrhoids. It said "use only as directed" and he asked "...what ELSE would I do with this?"

Of course, there are some REALLY stupid people that the government feels needs protection from themselves...I say let natural selection take place like in nature....such morons will be out of the gene pool in no time.

My daughter has her house for sale. Realtor did an excellent job with the description and especially the photos.
Had numerous showings since it was listed.
Feedback from clients.
I need more bedrooms, the house needs to be bigger, I need a third bathroom, I have kids, that pool in the backyard is dangerous, its only a two car garage.

Drives my daughter nuts, "Why didn't you read the damn description or look at the pictures before wasting everyone's time".

Actually, those are lumped into the gun violence statistics as well as suicide by a firearm and even police using a firearm against a criminal.
Actually no...gunfire or even the brandishing of a weapon in self defense does not necessarily result in death or injury..

I stand corrected. When you said, "gunfire" I took that as somebody being shot. I would never unholster my weapon unless I was prepared to use it and I would never carry my gun if I wasn't.
