I hear you
@J Sigmo and I am not here on this board to argue. As a matter of fact I am a very much fan of the US. Have visited many places in your country and I know, the differences between them are 'HUGE'..
I am sure you guys (as well as all around the globe), we all know what the impact of 'fake news', can be. Repeating the same (false) statements over and over again and people start to believe. Moreover there are more interests then the eye can meet. I am in 'no way' a pacific person. Actually, I have seen a lot of places where I would not like to live myself and consider 'looking into something to make me feel a little safer'. In the US but also here in Europe or Asia or Africa. Do I think it would help if everybody is carrying ' a piece'. Would it make me feel more save? No, not really. That the 'weapon industry' and everybody else who makes out a living from it wants to make me believe so, ofcourse, I do understand. But again, not here to argue and yes, everybody is (what I am concerned) entitled to their own (biased or not) opinion.
I am sorry if people feel personally attacked or if they feel they have to defend their country because of things I write/wrote. Actually, in the country where I've been born (the Netherlands) as well as the country where I momentarily live (Germany), we do have freedom of speech. I respect people's opinion also when they differ from mine
@fenderman
Maybe. I probably do not know the facts as well as you do.
What I did read after this thread is:
'It is clearly in the interests of children and families to reduce gun violence in the United States. Each day, on an average, 13 children under the age of 19 are killed by gunfire and more are injured'. (source
Cliffsnotes)
Some people mind think after reading this. Something has to been done. Maybe we should think it over (also when this has been done over and over again and also when you think, man, you do not know what you are talking about..). Argues pro and contra. Some people might think; 'where wood is chopped splinters must fall'! As a father myself it makes me think. At least it is something which makes me to respond to this thread.
What I also read after this thread is:
Homicide is the second leading cause of death for youths 10–19 years old. For black males of this age, it's the No.1 cause of death. (source
Cliffsnotes)
I realize maybe for some people this last aspect alone might be reason not concerned to read further into the matter. I don't know. In the end of the day there comes a time we have to face reality or what that matters, ourselves, in the mirror.
Yes, it probably would be easier to not respond because I know it can upset people. Again, sorry. Not want to sort stress here. I am sure there are a lot scientifically studies in favor pro 'weapon industry' and contra. I do not need to be convinced. Everybody wants to protect their property, themselves and even more, loved ones. Just not sure if this weaponry helps. Claiming absolute truth, more weapons, less crime? I do not believe it. If you do, Fine!
When you have tortured yourself by reading till here, thank you and sorry for my bad (english)writing.
