Is it possible to have my BI trigger activate the light? I have it setup to play a sound I select in BI, but can't find a setting to engage the light (flashing or steady). Thanks.

Someone had to speak loudly close by the cam for me to hear something. Same
Goes for me speaking into my computer/phone to only hear a soft voice over the camera.

you have something wrong on your end. Turn up the volume. The speaker volume on the camera will not be very loud, but certainly loud enough for you to hear it well. Trigger the alarm sound and youll see.

Oh yeah! the alarm scared the heck out of me when I first plugged it in. I'm sure it'll do the same to the midnight front door people. haha!

Hi, new to this forum and just getting started with security cameras. I have this camera plugged into my Lorex NVR but functionality is limited. I'm trying to access the camera through the webpage interface to see if I can change settings including the password, however I do not the default login/pw. Tried the typical admin/admin, admin/password etc but no luck. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

@bonehead76, you have the Dahua version of this camera? For the last year or so, any new Dahua camera I've received made me change the admin password myself the first time I connected to the webgui... (i.e. there was no default password). If you didn't get that prompt, I'm wondering if the Lorex NVR set the initial password?

I don't know BI that well. I set the camera itself to enable the light on PIR Alert from 10 PM - 7 AM.

I've used the Dahua iDMSS app to manually click the light on, but I haven't poked around too much in BI to figure that out.

I don't know if there is a way to do it in BI (haven't found it yet if so), but you can set it in the cameras web interface. See photo. Just check that highlighted area and you can configure how long to have it set for. You can also set whether you want it to strobe light or steady on. The only thing I haven't been able to completely figure out is how to get the motion activation set up just right. Do I use the camera's web interface settings or BI's? They seem to counter-act each other. Here is how I have the hotspots set up. In Camera web I have the red selected for the audio to be set off (more for a tamper deterrent, in case someone tries to mess with the camera). In the BI setting (trigger map) I have it so I get alerts if someone comes onto my property. But as soon as someone enters the green area, it triggers the audible alarm. Any suggestions?

Edit: Disregard, I guess I figured it out. All seems to work the way I want it to for the time being =)

When using BI, unless you have an SD card in the cam. There is no reason to setup the motion detection in the cam, turn it off.
Just use BI, it's motion detect is superior.

I don't have an SD card yet, but what I was trying to do is get the siren to set off if you get close to the camera (to disable or tamper with it), and use the motion detection for triggered alerts, etc. I did disable the cameras motion and now only use BI, and it still works. Not sure what I was doing wrong before, but everytime I would step outside, the siren went off. But all is good now.:headbang:

I guess I'm the odd one here, but I have my Blue Iris set to only record when this camera's PIR Alarm trips. I've got motion detection disabled on the camera, and never setup (for this camera) within Blue Iris.

This camera covers my porch. With other camera, I've gotten Blue Iris motion detection tuned to where I only got a few false (or missed) alerts a week, but since switching to PIR on this camera, it's been perfect. Curious to see how well PIR does detecting people during the hot summer here, though.

Thanks for your reply, I got the camera from Empire Tech Andy. The camera was already initialized by the time I used it for the first time. Any other ideas on how to log into the camera?

You should have received a small software cd that came with the box and instructions. Mine was also already initialized too, but if you insert the cd, you can change the password in there (I believe). If you need assistance with the cd, I can take a pic of the instructions if you don't have them already.

Here is what I have tried so far:
  • Enable PIR and enable light in camera settings
  • Enable motion detection in BI with custom alarm audio sound
  • RESULTS: Light triggers regardless of BI profile settings. Audio file only triggers as I want when "Away" profile is triggered

  • Disable PIR in camera settings
  • Enable light in camera settings
  • Enable motion detection in BI with custom alarm audio
  • RESULTS: Light does not trigger at all, no matter what profile that BI is in. Audio works as expected when in "Away" profile and triggered.
It looks like BI doesn't have a way to trigger the camera to engage the light like the built in PIR sensor.

Blue iris does allow you to trigger the white light as it can send an http command at the beginning and end of a trigger. You need to find the api and work on the correct commands.

Thanks. Had not thought of that angle. Any tips on where to look or even what to search for? This is probably far above my capabilities, but could mimic something similar perhaps.
