I take it that this being a preview that this is not all that is coming to BI 5? I was hoping to see some enhancements for motion detection, maybe some new features for motion zones. I like the scrub feature that will be handy. I like to see how things are optimized for speed.

I wish I could try it for a couple of weeks and see how it works. I’d like to see the AI integrated to discover people, pets, cars, trucks, busses, that would be a good start.

Who cares, that is a lot of improvement and as he mentions there is more to come. He adds features monthly.
The scrub function is already available in BI4.

in the text "The client apps for iOS and Android, as well as the UI3 browser interface all will receive major updates as well."
Will the apps work if i upgrade, many of my relatives has bought the app, it would be sad if they need to buy upgrades if i upgrade to version 5 on server.

What do you think?

you dont have to repurchase app store apps. Ever. Even if they did, at 10 bux, they will survive. I promise.

Does anyone know if I were to update my support to extended and get the upgrade will a new key be issued for 5 and could I continue to use 4 on a different machine as a stable fallback.

I can't say for sure but I do expect it to work that way if the v4-v5 upgrade happens the same way the v3-v4 upgrade happened. Alternatively, he could also have simply flagged old v4 keys as being usable with v5 if they had active support plans during the appropriate timeframe. In that case you would not get a new license key for v5.

Yeah, I care and many others out here care what this upgrade will be about and what features might be available now and which might come later down the track, that's why we are here discussing things.
By just replying to comments "it's only 30 bux, just buy it", doesn't answer our questions or assists our comments in any way. Yes it is cheap, yes I'm pretty sure I'll upgrade (it's more like $60 AUD btw and $34.95 USD for one year maintenance which includes v5 according to this link Blue Iris Support and $29.95 USD is an annual subscription which also includes v5) but the point is, people here come to discuss products , features and it's not all about the money. From what I can see and I'm a newish user as far as the forum is concerned.

Yes, I'd like to discuss features, that's why I'm here. I can see pricing on the BI website, that's not why I'm here, never placed a question here who much it is, the cost is not a problem. What can you tell us about the free AI face recognition services Ken mentioned he will bring in future releases?

If you would get your head out of your ass you would that the developer stated what new features will be available now and some that will come later. My comment was simply indicating that even if those were the ONLY features its worth thirty dollars. If you already own BI it ONLY costs 30 usd to get the update now. Where you get 60aud+34.95+29.95 is BEYOND me. You dont seem to understand the costs. I suggest you revisit the topic. Of course you can always WAIT and upgrade later if you like the features, as difficult as it may be to pry 30 dollars out of your cheap hands.

The features were discussed you fool. You are obviously concerned about price, stop lying. If you were not concerned about price you would upgrade. What can you do to stop being a LAZY ass and read about new features on this site. Anything else that has not been announced yet is anyone guess, I understand that you might like to discuss the hypothetical but thats pointless and does nothing.

Hi,

Just for those people who are interested in renewing: Extended support + Maintenance....

Under this fee structure, it has become a yearly subscription, auto renewal type.
So it will cost $29.95 USD per year, for periodical software updates on your new BI v5.
(If you did not renew your yearly subscription, you won't get any software updates
on your BI v5, which is a change from previous version of BI v4.x.x)

If you want to get 1 year support + 1 year software updates, then you can opt
for: 1 year extension for support + maintenance for $35.95 USD (without yearly subcription).

You can buy the 29.95 and simply cancel the renewal - though mycommerce makes it tricky to do. Technically, even in BI4 you were not supposed get minor updates after a year. He never enforced that. We will see with BI5.

Ok noted.....
I must admit, $29.95 USD yearly subscription is still very affordable compare to other VMS out there in the market.

Yes. Its basically free. Yet there are many who will complain at having to drop 30 bux every 4 years...they dont know how good they have it.
That is nature of human being, most don't appreciate the good things in life. Until 1 day they discovered those free stuff was removed.
