Viewing Camera outside of my network without portforwarding.

Hello guys,
I was wondering if there are cameras out there that don't need portforwarding to be seen outside of the network.
I basically want to access my camera via the Browser from anywhere. The normal way would be to use portforwarding and then use RTSP stream to view my cam right?
Is there a cam with inbuild service to skip these steps?

Possibly because one can access within the LAN without forwarding but from the WAN (remotely) an incoming request for a specific port would be forwarded by the router, if so configured.
NOT a good idea as others have stated....use VPN.

Or remotely if using P2P (peer-to-peer) via cloud server; but ususally an app is involved. I don't recommend either......again, the VPN is the way to go.

There are a ton of consumer-grade cameras that do this, but they require monthly fees.

Yep, just about any camera with no-port-forwarding remote access will require a monthly fee because it costs them money to run the servers that maintain the connections and proxy the video to you. Plus, such cameras are marketed towards people with no computer networking knowledge, so they don't tell you what methods they are actually using to facilitate remote access. Some products, like the "Slingbox" I used to have, would actually be using "UPnP" to automatically forward a port to itself and so it would not work if your internet provider didn't give you a public IPv4 address, or if you had disabled UPnP in your router for security reasons.

Built in p2p on dahua NVR and cams do not need port forwarding if you are not concerned about security. You just scan the code with said app/ input your details ( user/password) and connect.

FWIW, the title of this year-old thread is "Viewing Camera outside of my network without port forwarding."

Using a VPN such as OpenVPN on your router for remote access is a MUCH safer method and is recommended over port forwarding...unless you just want to get hacked and jeopardize the security and integrity of your network.

It's really dumb to post links to videos encouraging port forwarding when it's well recognised that it presents significant security risks to users' devices and data.
Please don't do this.

There are much safer alternative methods of remote access that are not difficult to implement.

One additional question to this-

If I use OpenVPN to access BI from outside of my network on my phone, then, if I wanted to access UI3 from a computer out of network (such as a work computer at the office), I would then need to use the OpenVPN certificate or program on that computer, correct?

Work computer is on its own VPN for the organization and install of new programs is not allowed, is there any way to access UI3 then?
 
You would need to install the certificate on any computer or device you want to access your network from while outside of your local LAN. Yes, you would need to install the Open VPN client to access your home network. That may not be possible if your employer is enforcing good network security. I'd just use my phone, no waves being made that way.

That's what I was thinking- thank you for your advice, I totally agree (although it would be so much more convenient to use the PC). Thanks @sebastiantombs!

This reply is long overdue, however here goes. Yes, VPN is the only safe way for remote access to your camera system. However it will still not allow you to view live video. All camera manufacturers appear to employ Adobe FLV to encode transmitted vide to to its low bandwidth requirements. However since 2020 FLV is no longer supported. Push static image shots are now the only way to receive secure remote imagery.

OpenVPN is commonly recommended here and works for live view streaming...

Are you using the paid VPNs that hide your IP address for illegal streaming and porno addictions LOL as those don't work.

You need to be the VPN host. Or use something like ZeroTier...

And hosting the VPN allows us to use the cameras that you say are the most hacked, which are not hacked when you don't give them internet access and instead VPN into the system.
