In have 32 cameras, not very funny to reset.
Do you backup config and restore after upgrade?

Do you loose all your settings for IVS or others when you upgrade to this firmware?
Sorry did not mean to quote previous
Yes, because you should always reset the cam to factory defaults after the update.
No, you won't lose your setting when you upgrade it unless you do a reset

Like what lonney2ns said that it is a good idea to do a reset after each firmware upgrade. Sometime the database get tweaked some and the programmer may have forgotten to add a database update to reflect the changes in the new firmware.

And yes you can do a a configuration backup first then upgrade and reset then restore it from backup. This is not a camera upgrade just NVR so you are only resetting your NVR and restore the setting only on the NVR after a reset if you decided to go this route.

You should not need to reset all your 32 cameras for this upgrade.

Main reason I want to upgrade is for e mail notifications.
This fixes the previous problem correct?

Right now this model has a latest new firmware released last week, will post it here soon after testing. Has big new function adding.
I ordered a NVR5216-16P-4KS2E from you almost a year ago and am now just getting around to installing it. I am ready to initialize but want to immediately upgrade to the most current firmware.

Is the below quote the most current Firmware to my model? I am in the USA. If not, what is or should I wait for the update you mention. How soon will you be able to release the new firmware?

Any issue to upgrade to the most current available now and then upgrade again when you release the latest that is being tested?

Thanks.

What I always do for my own gear and managed ones:
  • disconnect all POE cams
  • factory reset NVR
  • reboot (!)
  • load firmware through web service
  • factory reset NVR
  • reboot (!)
  • ONE BY ONE connect each cam (check if feed comes back, check if IVS is still enabled). If cam 1 is OK, connect cam 2. Otherwise debug until you have the feed.

It might be that your cams are on a too low level too. So check these firmware versions too, they might have an outstanding firmware version too.

Hope this helps!

I just set up mt NVR that I purchased nearly a year ago and just got around to installing. I upgraded to v4001. after initializing, setting password, static IP and connecting to my ASUS router before adding cameras. I assume it is still recommended to do a factory reset?

After a factory reset on the NVR, mine is a NVR5216-16P-4KS2E, I will need to reinitialize, set password, date, IP, etc. as if it was a new system I assume?

I only have two cameras installed so far and am upgrading their firmware as well. Any reboot, default process recommended after updating cameras?

Thanks.

You can make a backup, upgrade, reset to factory default, then set only the necessary for get the initial/config page and import the backup.

Update did not fix this as far as I can tell. The test e mail works everytime but never for IVS triggeers.

Actually, on IVS events, I get emails with attached, I've had to deleted and recreate the IVS rule.

1 Yes, on the factory reset.

2 yes

3 Factory reset.
Best is to set all of them back up from scratch and not import saved settings.

To reset the camera, what is best practice: Log in to the camera web page via the IE icon, IP Camera > Default > Factory Default.

Should I do that before unplugging the cameras and doing a factory default on the NVR?

Thank you.

Actally, the IVS rules were set on the cameras, I've deleted 'em, and recreated on the NVR, seems working since I've done that

Hi Andy,
Any update as to when / if the new update you mentioned will be released, and what is the big new feature? Need to prepare for the zombie apocalypse! :paranoid:
