Meanwhile, speculation still remains as to how this outbreak occurred in the first place. The UNO should not ignore that. Such events need to be prevented from occurring again. Don't let the media coverage distract you. Some pundits say this is the time for people to come together, solve problems for the greater good, and become aware of problems present across the world.

Gotta love the authoritarian ChiCom TV channel....I wonder when they'll be having a parade in Beijing and if Pooh will appear to the accolades and appreciation of all the welder tradesmen,..oh wait, I think they're busy grinding welds, I hope. o_O

Rather somber moment. Here's today's opening bell.

Not just the music but note there are no lenses in his glasses. That one always ticks me off.
Eh, it's a wardrobe decision. In this case, it was a bit more apparent than most - but don't think for a second our media doesn't pull the same crap. If they feel it increases viewership and interest, they would pimp out their own mothers.

On the upside, I was impressed with the clarity of his English. Even had a bit of a mid-west American accent. I wish some of the promo videos, tutorials, and manuals that I get from China were even half as good.

I don't accept your apology Target. Why shouldn't Target sell masks to Americans who need them so we don't have to beg them off of Andy. Instead of being upset with Target we should be upset with the ENTIRE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT for allowing American citizens to be held hostage by a virus that everyone said was coming. The WHOLE GOVERNMENT . Not just the President. Not Just Congress. Not just the Senate. Not the Left. And not the Right. Let's hold the entire government accountable, including my state and local pig-trough government who seems to have dropped the ball entirely. Hey, I'm fuQing ready; I can deal with this. But there appears to be a lot of Americans who can't. What a clusterfuQ.
I'd go one step further and actually blame THE HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATORS... probably more so than the feds. There are entire departments dedicated to infection control. It is their primary job to make sure the hospital is kept safe and clean. They are to anticipate the needs of staff. Given that this thread started in the third week of January, one has to wonder why the people in those departments weren't aware... Or didn't heed the warnings coming from other nations.

When I saw what was coming - even before starting this thread - I ordered a crap-ton of masks, goggles, gloves, O2 cylinders, O2 generator, every possible fish antibiotic (to ward off secondary infections) and 6 months of food for a family of four. I had most of that ordered by the first week of Feb.

On February 7th I ordered coveralls from bettymills.com - delivered nearly 6 weeks ago.

The point is stock was plentiful 4-6 weeks ago. At that point, anyone with even a medium level of interest (not distracted by the impeachment charade) could have and should have seen this coming like a freight train. Unfortunately, until the hearings were over, no MSM was covering it. And any that mentioned it, said our risk was nil.

It was a perfect storm of disinterest, apathy, media TDS, and government wanting to avoid panic. But again, those infection control departments at EVERY hospital should have seen right through all of that. It's what they're getting paid to do. They should be drawn and quartered.

One thing worth noting:

There isn’t a single government that was “ready” for this. Once in a lifetime, once in 100 years event. Not a single one.
Factually, that is true, but it is no excuse. Especially with social media - videos coming out of Wuhan, now Italy. It's like those that weren't hit simply put on blinders. Normalcy bias had them convinced this would never get that bad where they are. THAT is the problem. Warnings were there. Plenty of info coming from those infected first. We absolutely refused to learn from others. Anyone bold enough to scream at the top of their lungs "GET READY IT'S COMING" was promptly ridiculed or even attacked for trying to cause fear.

Hell, my own father-in-law - less than 2 weeks ago, told me I need to stop living in fear... It is a mindset, that has doomed many people.

This for doctors and nurses using only, normal people no need them. The N95 is easy to buy here, if any guys need some , i can do some help. But don't accept big order, 50-100pcs is ok.

No one should care about a wardrobe decision especially at this time. Yes, its important to look presentable, but why the glasses w/o lens? This is a social construct, haha. I did like his ability to communicate clearly and that is a must in any individual especially when it comes to government officials. :D
I expect to see a lot of testifying when this is all set and done. Stock up on some popcorn.

The airline from HK to overseas deduct 70% , same as the freight airline. Shipping cost increasing very fast now, If the world not work together soon, the whole system will be crashed. The masks i used all with fast shipping way via DHL, can be delivered within this week i think.

They were more prepared thanks to the SARS outbreak in 2003-04. Taiwan especially did not want to take any chances. They were prepared in the first week of December as soon as the initial cases started pouring out of Wuhan.

Taiwan and Singapore were pretty damned close to it though.

Watched this last night and it was better than I expected.
People are quickly tiring of the home quarantine as we also quickly tire of the online "look at me, look at me" and the reality of running out of money starts to hit home.
As many are saying - "we cannot tolerate a cure that is worse than the disease".
This lockdown will be coming to an end quickly - get back to work - don't spread germs - you can be close to people if you are more diligent.
