Hey everyone, I just ordered

2x IPC-T5442T-ZE
&
2x PFA130-E - junction boxes

From Andy.

I need to first test the locations, and find which are the best locations.

But I am curious is there anything else I need to buy ?
What kind of ethernet cables ?

I also know about the grease to prevent the water corossion.

Anything else i should pre order now ?

I already have a compatible NVR

Make sure whatever cables you buy are solid copper and not CCA (copper clad aluminum). If they are pre-terminated make sure they are terminated in 568B. If you're terminating them use 568B.

The defacto cable is CAT6 although CAT5e is also suitable. Make sure the jacket is rated for the use. CMR for use in walls or plenum rated for use in air handling areas like above suspended ceilings. If cabling outside, use a gell filled weather resistant cable and consider conduit as well, even with the outdoor cable.

If your NVR does not have built-in PoE you will need a PoE switch or PoE injectors to power the cameras.

for the permanent final camera mount.

use on each outside rj45 connector
dielectric grease
quality electrical tape
rubberized self-amalgamating tape

I was hoping to not have to drill holes.

Could i just route these along my roof/soffit and maybe tape/glue them along it.

The less holes i have to drill, the better
If you are going to have the cables exposed, then you need to get outdoor rated cable. Specifically that is UV resistant.

Most of the folks here do not run cable exposed. But you could.

got a picture or drawing of your camera placements?

I run around exposed, just not with cable :)

Lol

Lol i had to read this three times lmao.

I haven't set up my cameras yet. Just bought a new house , so i first need to find the best camera placements.

Any tips on finding the best camera placements spots ??
for those folks to advise you, we would need a layout of your house, backyard, frontyard, driveway, surrounding area. And what you are critical upon (folks at door? intruders in driveway? clowns in backyard?). You'll get great advice here the more you share.

See this thread as it might give you ideas on how one evolves a plan.

Super rough drawing. Uploading a youtube video of a walkthrough I did recently. Will post the link when it's done
what is the distance from front of house to sidewalk?
are you concerned about driveway observations or just the front yard area?

Shoots maybe 5-10 feet.

The yards is fully fenced. But I'm super close to the street. No sidewalk at all.

I am concerned about all 4 sides honestly. But especially concerned with the front, side, and back yard along with the garage side.

That jungle can house anything. Buy there's a military base on the other side of the jungle.
