Honestly, I'm starting to side with these guys. I mean, why not? If they can make a buck off of it and no one cares, I feel like they might be smarter than I am wasting my time calling the police
Know how you feel. Why am I even bothering to try to do the right thing?

I had a local woman here running a huge online Ponzi scheme. I mean like $10s of millions. Obvious fraud and operating in full view. Everything needed to shut her ass down was readily available to anyone who took maybe an hour to look. Finally got one detective in the relatively huge police department here to respond. He basically said "We have no clue what to do with something like that." lol She continued to run her scam for another year and a half before the Feds finally shut it down. Still not sure much of anything ever happened to her as a result.

I'm ok
Traffic laws were broken, and the actions of these idiots can be seen as reckless.

Personally, I would check out the high density of auto shops less than 400 feet to the west of where this occurred. The fact that the one auto already had rear panel damage and a temp plate supports the idea that they came from one of those shops north of the golf course.
This just gave me an idea, What if both cars were in to the body shop and they wanted to make more money fixing them?
Both cars would have more damage, and the shop makes more money.

I don't want to get in a pissing match with fenderman, but here in NJ the local town would probably give them their own day for "originality" in running a scam. The entire State Government is a scam here. They admire a creative scam that they didn't think of, but would probably want to "wet their beaks" as well from the profits.

It depends what town you're in many of them are very responsive. The point is not whether they will care I'm indicating that they are in violation of the law in response to the question as to whether they did.

I understand your point, just so disgusted with this state and those elected officials. I think the State Police might follow up on it, and some of the locals would too, but far too many would brush it off.

Or what if one/both were recently in a wreck and nobody took photos of the vehicles, so they wanted to make sure that they had more damages and bodily injuries to scam even more...why someone would do that who knows, but people are strange LOL.

They could simply claim a hit and run and making a bodily injury claim under the uninsured portion of their policy.

You'll hear me say this again, and again - get in your car and drive. Especially where dead ends, or in this case where this street shouldn't be serving as a shortcut. Unless you're a kid on a bike, with a few clubs and you intend to park on the curve, to hop the fence for a free half dozen holes of golf before dinner. haha. We are all creatures of habit, and I know these two aren't being too creative because the whole entire scenario playing out looks ridiculous. They came from very near by, and rather than spending a few more minutes driving to an abandoned area of town, they took the 'easy route', quite literally.

Check the places West of you; the body shops and auto garages. That whole area seems too convenient to dismiss. The clock is ticking though .. in a couple days everything will look shiny and new.

This is where AI in some cameras is beneficial I guess. Tracking a vehicle you've identified through old recordings to see if and when it was already down your street. You may have hit the tip of the ice berg with this. The guy in the SUV has done this countless times imo, and has likely been on this street prior.

You are asking a lot of the guy who likes pizza. Even sending the shots to major insurers is a lot to ask of him. He contacted law enforcement. If they do nothing, then so be it. He could give the info/video to local TV stations. They might like it for a segment on insurance fraud. They are always doing something like that here in Houston.

But for the OP to do more than that is not realistic. What is the up side for him? I can see a lot of down side for him. Going to local autobody shops? Asking questions? Looking for the cars? Why put yourself in harms way here? No up side.

Any way you look at this, big thanks for posting it @IReallyLikePizza2 - lots to learn about getting good images on the street in front of your home
I get enough practice :p There is always SOMETHING happening out here

I don't speak Spanish anyway, no way I could even communicate with them

Boggles the mind that consumer level products have this AI. I haven't really dug in to the minutia of it all yet, so this type of result will blow me away for a while.

So you have a pool of 5 unique vehicles to work with, but the Kia seems to be the commonality. If I were to keep an eye out in the immediate area for one of those vehicles, it would be the Ki. @samplenhold I don't dispute what you're suggesting. I've been told I give off a bit of a biker vibe, so a lot of the time I can navigate those spaces unchallenged. But I agree, they may not be a place to be, and there may not be any upside whereas the exposure is pretty high considering, in particular, the close proximity and the fact that someone may recognize the OP 'from the hood'.

So while you may oft hear me say 'get in your car and drive', that advice may need to be reserved for wingnuts like myself. :screwy:

Oh but @IReallyLikePizza2 has gone out and got verbal with folks he has seen litter and stuff, so I don't think he will back down LOL.

But if we have all this gear and are afraid to use it for any good, what is the point in having it? If we are that scared, then no reason to use the video because after all if someone broke into your house and your video got them arrested, they could then come back and retaliate later knowing it was you that got them arrested.

My videos have put people behind bars.

That is quite the different scenario. Why go to so much trouble if there is no upside? Given LE won't do anything, are you suggesting the OP should hunt them down and do what? Beat them with a baseball bat?

No, hunting them down is a little too far, but sending it to a few insurance companies and let them deal with it if they file a claim will get LE involved and the outcome would be the same whether LE took the evidence or not. Heck, he could probably just send to one insurance company and it would make it's rounds within their systems.

We all have to do our part. Society is out of control right now with the bad guys winning. Crap like this is what raises our insurance rates. I bet they have done this before. And looks like they are constantly re-using that temp tag for whatever scam they have going on.

Now some here probably think the baseball bat is a good idea LOL.

The best thing to do is report it to your local police department. No matter what the police do from there, your part is done.
Some towns in NJ do not have a local police department. The state police patrol these areas instead and it can be a timely task for them.

For me, I am in an area where the local police will respond to a call no matter how small.
