I watched a guy with a home-built 6.5 Creedmoor shoot groups where all the rounds were touching or overlapping at 100 yards. He said it took hundreds of different handload variations to close in on the exact bullet type and powder load to get those results with that gun. I just don't have time or expertise to get into it that deep.
I was surprised by the 62 grain Hornady rounds I shot-- I thought the heavier rounds would group lower than the American Eagle. Instead they were the same elevation-- just slightly left.

I used to fool with reloading back when it was really economical. I spent a lot of time on .223 and found the "perfect" load for my Mini14. Held 1" groups at 100 yards with open sights. I wish I still had those targets and the range to work with so I could compare what my aim is today.
PS - Back then 500 rounds a week was more or less standard with the .223 for me, plus another 500-1000 with a wheel gun at closer ranges.

Yaw is one thing-- it can/does happen on penetration, but it usually contributes to the disintegration of a bullet. You can see that with fragment path deviations in ballistics gel from the straight line. When you use a word like "tumbling" it implies something to people ignorant of firearms that is not true-- Bullets do not go ripping through flesh like a fidget spinner. Wound cavitation happens without any yaw or tumbling-- it's a function of bullet energy being absorbed or transferred to the flesh it hits.
For the umpteen zillion ballistics gel videos out there on youtube, I find it very strange that there are NO videos that actually show a bullet yaw so much if flips end for end 180 degrees or more. If you find one, please post it as I would love to see it.

The bicep, even in Arnold when in his prime, isn't all that big. Think about what you see in ballistic gelatin, the white area just inside where the bullet impacts is that shockwave.

Exactly. An FMJ bullet hitting ballistics gel and roughly maintaining trajectory through it will generate a massive cavitation effect from that shock wave. The appearance of that cavitation is not proof that the bullet is "tumbling".
