I updated one of my S3 cameras successfully, but I don't see any place to add "Animal" as an Effective Target. Do I need the latest fw update for my NVR as well in order for this to work?

Interesting. I can't figure out how to do IVS through the Camera UI. I've always done it via NVR.

You should do ALL settings on the camera GUI

go to AI, choose IVS - Follow prompts

IVS is much better than SMD. Dont try running both at the same time

But I choose the AI by Camera setting, I just do it through the NVR interface.

On the newer NVR's which you have apparently, yes you can choose AI by Recorder (and lose 1/2 of your incoming bandwidth allocation) or by Camera on the NVR interface, but you still need to actually setup the IVS rules on the camera GUI if you choose by Camera

I'm trying to figure out how to get that AI menu in my camera UI. perhaps it's because I have SMD enabled too? I had SMD enabled to catch things like animals, but now I won't need it because IVS can do it.

Click the house icon (home) top left of your camera gui you showed in pic about 5 posts up

Then choose AI
Then select IVS
Then the next screen is the IVS rule setup screen

Close all those tabs across the top once you’re done with one. It’s not windows

I'm loving the animal detection...I caught a skunk and a deer last night. I have human detection via tripwire send me notifications in the middle of the night so I know if a human is creeping around my house, but I have animal detection on intrusion so I don't get the alerts to my phone but I can easily find them in the recording later.

I have a camera with version "V2.840.0000000.25.R, Build Date: 2023-04-25" that does not have "Smart IR", and another one with "V2.840.15OG00D.0.R, Build Date: 2022-08-18" that does have "Smart IR". Is there a newer build that has Smart IR?
