NeoRouter :: The network revolves around you is one I started using some 10 years ago to connect some remote locations for my dad. Still using it today and it has been fairly reliable, but we only really use their Windows software (and self-host a server to help with peer connections). The software hasn't seemed to improve at all in the last 10 years and I expect it will just stop working one of these days.

Wireguard is a good VPN server option but it does require self-hosting. Functionally it works a lot like openvpn. Each client device gets a public/private keypair and the ease of use greatly depends on the interface you find for it. I think Asus routers support Wireguard now, don't they?

Whew! Good thing I'm still on 1.8.9-1
:)
Well since that works, I'll post the APK
If there is a newer version other than the Nov2023 that works let me know... Because I will post it.

I'll send them an email just in case they are not aware of this IPV6 issue with android.

A lot of them are self hosted in one way or another and for just accessing a .net web app on a network, I can't see why it would be any safer (which its probably less) than hosting the BI server with a public CA and install the client certificate manually. At least the endpoint is not the network but a machine.

Toggling any of the setting does not make it work for me. I know my VPN is working... the key is showing in the upper left of my phone and tonight I was able to reach my NAS that has ZeroTier on it with no issues, but still could not reach Blue Iris either away or here at home from my Android.

Here are my settings in BI Web server settings... IP addressed appear to be correct. I have a static IP with my ISP. whatismyip.com is showing the static IP. Adaptors drop down is showing the ZeroTier IP address.

In Remote access Wizard, these two dialogs are red X'd. Checking my WAN IP on canyouseeme.org says it can't see my WAN IP on port 81.

Hmmm... mine was user error. In the BI phone settings, I clicked GET IPS and those were not the correct IP addresses. I changed them as follows:

And I can now login to BL and see my cameras... at least locally I can... not sure about when away.

You should be able to temporarily turn off the phone's Wi-Fi, be on cellular data only and simulate "being away" when still at home.

If I turn off my phone's wifi, I can't access anything online, even when we have several bars.

This is true at home or away.

Last night, the restaurant did not have Internet access. I had 3-4 bars, but nothing would pull up, even with "use mobile data" checked in the ZeroTier app. Once we got back in the truck and connected to the truck wifi... Plex pulled up fine.

Let see:
  • You're not going into airplane mode
  • You're just turning off Wi-Fi
  • You're leaving cellular data on, have several bars and....
  • You cannot go online to like google.com at all?
I'd say you have other issues going on besides just ZT. :wtf:

You may be correct. Rarely have I been in a spot without Internet. Last night was the first time in a long time that I attempted it. Most of the time, I don't even pick up my phone when in a restaurant.

I restarted my phone and I can now use mobile data (search Google, visit various websites), except for Blue Iris or Plex.

The only way I can reach those is with Internet turned on, despite having "Allow mobile data" checked in ZeroTier settings.

This is odd... I searched and found where a guy had the same issue and changed one setting in his ZeroTier portal online and it fixed his issue. I changed it in mine, and I can now login to Plex without Internet, but Blue Iris connection times out. Maybe it's too slow of a connection with this fairly low signal to connect before it times out.

This may be telling here... port 81 for Blue Iris is open when connected to wifi, but when on mobile data it is blocked.

Ping to my Blue Iris computer:

Ping to my NAS where Plex is loaded... and I can reach Plex with or without Internet.

Tried Tail scale >>
?
I have now! I like the idea that it's on a Wireguard platform too, as I've read a lot of good things about Wireguard.

Enough is enough... ZeroTier had Android bugs that I read about all over the Internet forums... countless connection issues just like mine for several years. I got tired of fighting it and moved to Tailscale. Oh, what a relief... everything just works, and it was super easy to set up. Asustor already had the Tailscale app available, which made it super easy to setup my NAS. No SSH sessions are required. I set up several devices in a matter of a few minutes. Setting up Roon was a little more time-consuming because I had to set up my AppleTV with a subnet since my Nucleus One can't connect directly to Tailscale.

Happy and connected. BI works with or without wifi. Awesome!

Tried both TS and ZT to view UI3 (Blue Iris) with a BI Windows machine 100% isolated from the internet. Could not get ZT to work, but TS does work using the phone on data or local WiFi to view UI3. Used an GL-MT3000 router with both of ZT and TS installed as it allows TailScale to be used on a device that can not host TS.

So far it is a plus for TailScale for this application.
