NeoRouter :: The network revolves around you is one I started using some 10 years ago to connect some remote locations for my dad. Still using it today and it has been fairly reliable, but we only really use their Windows software (and self-host a server to help with peer connections). The software hasn't seemed to improve at all in the last 10 years and I expect it will just stop working one of these days.
Wireguard is a good VPN server option but it does require self-hosting. Functionally it works a lot like openvpn. Each client device gets a public/private keypair and the ease of use greatly depends on the interface you find for it. I think Asus routers support Wireguard now, don't they?
