I have been using tailscale for a long time. But it isn't necessary at home as the log in is direct. I have a samsung tablet that doesn't have cell capabilities, wifi only. Not using a VM. Totally baffled on this one. Been at it for many hours in many different ways, including BI support. Ken said he would check my configuration, waiting for him to get back. It seems odd that it would work so long then just quit.
Very strange indeed, even more so that it seems to be a few of us on here in this thread now in the last 24hrs. Hopefully ken can give you some useful information or resolve it. Let us know how you go, I can't test anything now as I'm off to work.

I began experiencing this same behavior over the past few days. First couple of days, push notifications were intermittent, and now I haven't received one for at least 2 days. I have an android phone also (pixel 7). I wonder if this is an android-only issue. Is anyone experiencing this issue on an iphone?

Prior to this past week, I had been receiving notifications for years without issue.

I'm having the same issues. Pixel 7 pro and pixel 6a. Notifications became intermittent and now it no longer works. Alert counter is going up and logs show alert sent but none is received

As we all know though the app has had very little development and Google is depreciating firebase API key auth in favour for json.

This was announced some time ago and I believe we may now be getting hit with it. Without an update either to the 'server' or to the app we'll no longer receive notifications

Exactly the same, for months, Pixel 7 pro, a few days diminishing, then nothing. Guess this means I went bald for nothing .

My BI push notifications to Android Pixel devices were intermittent for a few days, then on 9/3 they all stopped. Looked into everything that could go wrong and everything looks good. BI response shows that alert was sent to all devices. How frustrating! I do not even have Bitdefender installed on the server. Was running a BI version from 2022 when this happened, then updated to 5.9.5.4 w/o any success. Deleted BI app and reinstalled, also deleted mobile devices and reinstalled on phone w/o any success. Before now, BI Push has been working reliable for the last 6+ years. SMS (MMS) alerts with pic through gmail are still reliable.

I sent a message to Ken and waiting for response. I urge others to notify Ken also. Anyone hear a response yet?

I contacted support/Ken a few days ago when it first started at intermittent. Still waiting for response to my last response to him a couple days ago. I now believe he must be getting a lot of inquiries, maybe "overwhelmed?". He originally wanted to check my settings but it is now obvious that is not the problem. It's kind of becoming an epidemic. Setup email notifications that work fine but prefer the simple, in my case, ding dong (doorbell). It worked great for so long. :(

My Android push notifications stopped working as well. Not sure when it happened exactly, because I updated my Android OS and also updated BI in the past couple days. Interestingly, the MQTT messaging is still working, so my deterrent porch lights are better than nothing. I'll message Ken too.

I can see that those affected by this are Android users which further reinforces that it is indeed this firebase issue

Taken from Google documents
"FCM will start a gradual shutdown of deprecated APIs around July 22nd, 2024. After this date, deprecated services will be subject to a "flickering" process in which increasing numbers of requests will return error responses. During the gradual ramp-down period you can expect the following behavior and error responses to increase in frequency over time:"

I am only aware of this as it's something that affected another white labeled app I use of which I had to change the Auth token. I was informed that it won't suddenly stop working in July but will progressively get worse until it's rejected entirely

To try to better explain it Google is changing the way that apps are able to send push notifications. Any apps which haven't updated to the new version will stop receiving push notifications.

In my experience it did not require an update to the actual app installed on phones but instead to the server sending the notification. Hopefully this could be fixed with a windows BI update

What's the best alternative for push notifications now moving forward?
In case this isn't fixed quickly, I'm exploring the mechanism of using MQTT to trigger a push notification using something like this app:
I already have a MQTT broker set up for using BI alerts to turn on my Hue porch lights using Home Assistant. It should be easy to set this up. Curious if anyone else has used this app before. I'll report back.
Edit: I get the impression that app is defunct, because I cannot get it to connect to my broker. I was able to connect using the myMQTT app, but that doesn't have push notifications. I'll keep looking.

Yep, came here to say that notifications crapped out on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra as well. Stand alone Windows Server 2019 running BI Server 5.9.5.4 and Symantec End Point Protection 14.7. Last time I had an alert that I can recall for sure (cause i muted the phone) was Monday. Maaaaybe Tuesday morning.

BI server was indexing over 10,000 files (alerts, videos) and sometimes that messes with my timeline. Deleted all that. Restored Blue Iris server to an earlier, July, variant, troubleshooted the AI which seemed slow, and now I was looking into restoring the whole server to last week sometime. My system records just fine, AI human detection as well. Just no more push notifications.

But based on what everyone is saying, I just need to find something else to do since it is widespread and nothing that can be fixed by the end user.

For anyone interested: Ken from Blue Iris has replied to me. He is very aware of the issue and is working on a solution (the essential understanding of the reply). Thanks to Ken for excellent customer service. :headbang: Patience is a virtue they say.
Thanks for the update. What made it worse for me was the same time notifications stopped, a lighting strike hit the cable trunk line outside, and blew out one of my ethernet switches, and tripped every GFI outlet in the house. Spent the whole day pulling my hair out on what could be wrong with notifications. What a coincidence. Luckily I have an enormous whole house surge protector.
