chit chat on stock / investing and youtube channel recommendations

Nobody is going to care more about your money and well-being than you yourself. Take the time to learn the terms and jargon, just like IP cameras. It won't take long for you to see there are many "advisors" out there that speak using hyperbolic language, technical terms and half-truths. When...

    Anybody know what this is?

I've been using Spectracide Bug Stop. The chemical is Lamda-Cyhalothrin. The label says up to nine months control, but I have been only applying it once a year outside. I see the newest label says 12 months control...

    Anybody know what this is?

It's a spider or some other insect lowering itself on the web. I see that stuff almost every day! You can take a broom and knock the loose stuff down and then spray with some of the newer chemicals that last months instead of minutes.

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

A few day pictures before sunset. The points of reference are: the far left corner of this field to the fence line far right of the truck is 560 feet. The end of the field is 1600 feet from the cameras. The cams are mounted 8 feet above ground.

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

I haven't tried the DS-2042WD-I yet. I see it has smart features and WDR. My last 4MP camera purchased was a DS-2CD3T45-I8. My smart WDR cameras are mostly DS-2CD4232FWD-IZH. I'll try find time to post some still images after the holiday from the DS-CD2032F-IW and a couple other 12mm lens...

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

I use several of these. They are all working fine for me over 150' from the nearest AP. I use my microwave with no issues. I believe that problems may occur if you live in a highly populated area where others are using many wifi devices. I set static IP addresses and have zero issues with...

    Variable focal vs zoom

Zoom operates remotely from software. Variable means you are on the ladder moving a lever on the camera lens itself.

    Blue Iris Camera Support

I would advise you to try the demo first...it won't cost anything. Vivotek is a choice on the dropdown menu for cams (I don't have any). It does appear that they should work.

    Recent Motion Detection Side Effect

What I did to eliminate this was log into the camera GUI and make the OSD text the smallest or next to the smallest size. I can then zoom in to see that information if needed.

    Crashing

Look at the error logs in the Event Viewer to see why you are having crashes.

Can an i5 handle 8 cams?

A 4460 will be fine. Not a clue about 4660. The annual fee has been $30 to date.

Can an i5 handle 8 cams?

List your i5 number. There are many variations. RAM can play a role as well. Some motherboards max capacity is 4 or 8 GB. I use a test system with an i5 2310 and 8GB RAM that performs beautifully with 14 cams. BI updates often. Turn off automatic updates. Nothing worth having is ever free...

What happened to the MASK option?

There was some discussion here: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/9185-what-happened-to-the-ignore-zones-(mask)-feature?highlight=mask You can roll back to a version before this change if you don't have a lot of time to spend with it now.
