chit chat on stock / investing and youtube channel recommendations

Nobody is going to care more about your money and well-being than you yourself. Take the time to learn the terms and jargon, just like IP cameras. It won't take long for you to see there are many "advisors" out there that speak using hyperbolic language, technical terms and half-truths. When...

    Anybody know what this is?

I've been using Spectracide Bug Stop. The chemical is Lamda-Cyhalothrin. The label says up to nine months control, but I have been only applying it once a year outside. I see the newest label says 12 months control...

    Anybody know what this is?

It's a spider or some other insect lowering itself on the web. I see that stuff almost every day! You can take a broom and knock the loose stuff down and then spray with some of the newer chemicals that last months instead of minutes.

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

A few day pictures before sunset. The points of reference are: the far left corner of this field to the fence line far right of the truck is 560 feet. The end of the field is 1600 feet from the cameras. The cams are mounted 8 feet above ground.

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

I haven't tried the DS-2042WD-I yet. I see it has smart features and WDR. My last 4MP camera purchased was a DS-2CD3T45-I8. My smart WDR cameras are mostly DS-2CD4232FWD-IZH. I'll try find time to post some still images after the holiday from the DS-CD2032F-IW and a couple other 12mm lens...

    Any one using DS-2CD2032F-IW wireless?

I use several of these. They are all working fine for me over 150' from the nearest AP. I use my microwave with no issues. I believe that problems may occur if you live in a highly populated area where others are using many wifi devices. I set static IP addresses and have zero issues with...

    Variable focal vs zoom

Zoom operates remotely from software. Variable means you are on the ladder moving a lever on the camera lens itself.

    Blue Iris Camera Support

I would advise you to try the demo first...it won't cost anything. Vivotek is a choice on the dropdown menu for cams (I don't have any). It does appear that they should work.

    Recent Motion Detection Side Effect

What I did to eliminate this was log into the camera GUI and make the OSD text the smallest or next to the smallest size. I can then zoom in to see that information if needed.

Can an i5 handle 8 cams?

A 4460 will be fine. Not a clue about 4660. The annual fee has been $30 to date.

Can an i5 handle 8 cams?

List your i5 number. There are many variations. RAM can play a role as well. Some motherboards max capacity is 4 or 8 GB. I use a test system with an i5 2310 and 8GB RAM that performs beautifully with 14 cams. BI updates often. Turn off automatic updates. Nothing worth having is ever free...

What happened to the MASK option?

There was some discussion here: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/9185-what-happened-to-the-ignore-zones-(mask)-feature?highlight=mask You can roll back to a version before this change if you don't have a lot of time to spend with it now.

Looking for rack mount ears for Hikvision 7608 NVR

Well, darn it. I thought possibly those could work straightaway or with a visit to the drill press. Sounds like some shimming is in order. We used to use wood like oak or walnut when confronted with this issue using audio equipment. I think it should be easy to find suitable shims either...

    Mini PTZ - Microphone

Tin the copper with solder to make the connections easier and more solid. You might try experimenting with the settings in your camera and audio gain in BI. I get great results from my Hikvision cams. Can't compare to the mini yet, but I can hear the neighbor's radio about a half mile away.

What IR illuminator would be best?

https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/8943-What-is-the-best-IR-illuminator-that-you-have-used?highlight=illuminator+wide That was a recent thread with some examples. There have been several threads on this subject during the past few weeks. Search the forum for more ideas.

What IR illuminator would be best?

I use several of these in the 48 LED version. They are cheap and work quite well for me. I also use a 12v power splitter cable with them. There are other options if your budget allows but these are hard to beat for value.

4.3.0.5 update anyone try it yet?

4.3.0.3 functions and sends alerts normally for me. 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6 has problems on my test system and does not send push notifications, only for certain cameras. Loving the new enhanced motion detection overall with 4.3.0.x *edit* 0.7 and updated the BI Android app. Things are going...

    Mini PTZ - Microphone

Most of mine look like this. Sorry for the glare. Took a quick photo with my phone. The braided outer shield cable is the shield/ground and the center conductor is the positive or signal. Color is not always consistent. The tip and second ring of this plug carry signal and the 3rd ring is...

    rebuild data base help

I would preserve the New--->Stored folders. I believe there will be a performance issue if you are putting everything in the New folder. You can keep a 50GB new folder then move to storage and make the limit near your remaining available space.

    rebuild data base help

In your clips and archiving options, what is the "Limit folder size" for the Storage folder? With those HDs, crank up the values. I see you also have New folder set to delete after 50GB instead of moving to storage? Is there a reason for that?

    which camera?

Since nobody else has replied here I will throw my 2 cents in. You should ask yourself if you are happy with the 2 cams you already have. Then determine if more of the same units will work in the locations you intend to cover. What size lenses? 4mm? Inside/outside, wireless/wired, NVR/PC...
