Ok, thanks for the replies. So the 2MP Starlight turret (IPC-HDW5231R) is still considered the go-to camera, right?

it depends on what you need it for...for outdoor work, yes...for indoor where its mostly used with lighting (retail) a 4mp might be a better option..

I'd be willing to put 4MP's on License Plates, Small Indoor spaces (Dog Houses/Pet Feeders/Sheds), and Indoor Retail/Industrial where the extra pixels help with readability and keeping a reasonable amount of detail w/wider angles and large spaces.. otherwise for residential use the Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup will typically be a better choice both indoors/outside since we cant leave all the lights burning 24/7, people need to sleep and neighbors have to be kept happy.

I already have cameras covering 100% of the front of the house. I've been wanting to add 2 additional cameras further out closer to the street on a pole pointing at each direction of the street to captures vehicles coming in and out. Generally, the street is well lit. I'd really like to be able to capture license plates as well. Will this camera serve this purpose or should I get a 4/5Mp camera?

you cant capture plates at night w/out a camera running settings that make it useless for anything else.. LPR cameras are dedicated rigs and these starlights would perform poorly with such bright headlights/plates to try to bring into range.

Thanks Nayr, taking lpr away, would this be a good camera to use @ the mounting location suggested. As you pointed out, headlights will be an issue, but if I can't get the license plate, can I at least get a decent image of the vehicle to tell the make and model? I can always add a dedicated LPR camera down the road.

So is the PFB203W just the older PFB204W and the PFA137 the older PFA139? Your link shows the earlier mounts so I guess they are compatible.

I was looking at accessory sheet http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/download/Accessory_Selection_2017012314.pdf and the HDW5231R-Z is not even on there. I guess it's too cutting edge. The HDBW series are the dome versions but it looks like they may have put the '5231' in the wrong area on this chart since it's not a dome.

Is that picture the HDW5231r-z on the PFB203W? If so, then I will just buy that one if it's confirmed to be compatible.
It is a HDW5231r-z on a pFB203w indeed on that picture.

Difference between PFB202W and the PFB203W is that the cable 'dent' is on the other side.
See the on this page next to each other.
Wall mount bracket

Th difference between 203 and 204 is in the hole distance for mounting camera.

These mounts are quite good, i will use them everywhere on my new house.
Explained it before, they have a detachable part that mounts to the wall (wall plate) and than you hook up the larger part you see on the images to it and lock it with small inbuss screw.
The detachable part is the same in the whole series, so whenever you change camera type, you can simply buy new mount for the new camera and hook it up. No new holes to drill etc.

Is it possible this is a firmware issue with my cams? I don't have PTZ control options with the web UI either.
Software Version 2.460.0000.1.R, Build Date: 2016-10-25
you update your PTZ??? there still have a PTZ function you lost~ There has a small file for the PTZ part. Just update it and can work again.

Assuming the label was created Sunday, I believe that was an estimate. Now that is was actually picked up, the delivery date will change.

I saw the same with my order.

Hopefully it gets on a plane before the holiday.
