OMG Thermal!

Yup, pallet controls require the plugin. To use the plugins requires Internet explorer mode in Edge. Eventually got it figured out.

Camera is recording locally to storage for motion detection on the thermal side, but my Dahua NVR never does. Any ideas? I’ve cranked the sensitivity up but still nothing recording on the NVR. The FLIR is way less clean an image than this camera. Definitely wish I had bought this first and not the used FLIR.

Well I feel like an idiot. I literally didn’t see that until I got the plugin working. Went back without the plug in and there it is! I swear I had gone through the interface multiple times and didn’t see the pallet option…

Now if only I could get my NVR to record on motion like the camera is already doing to local storage.

I'll chime in. I have a new affinity for the thermals. Love them. Have three TPC-DF1241-T-S8's. The -T version allows temperature alarms to be set, along with Fire Detection, Cold & Hot Spot Trace, Human & Vehicle Classification, Smoking Detection and Call Detection (on a thermal?). As I install all Andy's cameras for a living, I will be incorporating thermals in to higher end systems, as they cannot be tricked for intrusion events, temperature events and the like. It's like a FLIR on an Apache gunship. No hiding, unless you cover yourself in mud! I would conservatively say I have over 200 cams in service throughout Upstate NY, with over 25 customers. Low end to high end. From the original low light destroyer, the Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret IPC-HDW5231R-Z, to the ultimate SD8C845FG-HNF AI PTZ. Zero problems with any of them in the last 8 years. I plan to put the thermal on my pool. I love to know the temp of the water at a glance. These cameras shine when you need fire detection with high ceilings. Real world situation would be the JMA Wireless Dome that Syracuse University plays in. With a 165' roof above the playing field, smoke detectors are not viable for detecting trouble. These cameras in milliseconds detect fire and sound the alarm. Another real world use of the -T series is temperature alarms. Imagine your local Waste Management has a bunch of conveyor belts with serviceable bearings. A properly greased bearing runs at 140-150F. A roller bearing needing greasing runs about 180-190F. A "shot" bearing needing replacing runs hotter than that. For the corporate world, the cost is trivial, and one camera can save millions (it's true, there was an incident). Incorporate a thermal with any AI PTZ and AI NVR, and you have casino like detection, deterrence and observation. Granted they are not for everyone as the price point is above a pro-sumer levels, but they are awesome for what they can do. With that said, it is so hard to beat the value of the IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE-S3. They are the new standard for low light situations, price point and consumer level systems. They are the bulk of my installs since they came out. The Color 4K and the 4K-180T are gaining traction as well for their capabilities, but it's hard to beat those 5442's. Rock on party people.
Did you ever install one to detect your pool temp.?

Is there any downside to getting the temperature measurement camera instead of the other one? Are any important features lost?
I noticed the Temp. CAM does Fire Detection where as the Non-Temp. does heat Detection according to EmpireTech site specs. Got message to Andy if he knows the difference. Fire out in the woods is a sizable fear...would be nice if I could get a trigger/event notification.

Here is the heat Detection Distance on the Non-Temp. CAM:

Not understanding this on the Temp. CAM:

I thought I had read that, but the specs section for the thermal camera says this:

Which is why I'm asking about this in the first place. Maybe a mistake in Andy's specs? I pulled the Dahua spec sheets for both cameras and they both say IVS is in there, but the available lens sizes are different: 2mm and 3,5mm with Andy, and 2mm and 7mm on the data sheets.

On a non-US Dahua page, there is a 3.5mm listed. And it also lists tripwire and intrusion.
TPC-DF1241-T-S2 - Dahua CEEN Region

So I'm as confused as heck. I'm going to ask Andy over on his fall sale thread.
No mention of Fire Detection in the non-US Dahua CEEN Region link you found...hmmm

That does sound good... now if I could just think of an application (/excuse) to justify getting one here...
I did this in my head to justify, two CAMs for one, but mainly a Thermal CAM, for at night. I know the Detail CAM will not match my 5442 but for me, it is not a big deal out here in the sticks. I hope to add a nice PTZ that will track these critters, or at least allow me to zoom into a set perimeter/zone when the Thermal CAM detects them. Will have to see if I can do something in Home Assistant like a IFTTT, If This Then do That, or however it went, lol, been awhile since I used that... :)

If the Fire Detection works, the wife will be all for us getting this CAM. She gets all nervous when our county announces a burn ban...

One can catch fire :D ... *detect

So the video title is stating the X version and XB version, don't see the T (Temperature) version of the CAM.

Can anyone with the X version (Non-Temperature) CAM verify if they have the Burn Alarm for Fire Detection?

FYI, Andy just confirmed, Fire Detection is also on X version...

Non-camera junkies will never understand....

Wifey: What the hell have you been doing for the last 3 hours?
Me: Installing this new really cool camera hun
Wifey: oh, so whats so special about it?
Me; Look here's the first test clip
Wifey: So you're telling me you spent $500 and 3 hours installing it to be able to detect dog shit?
Me: ahhh but it’s able to detect “fresh” dog shit

Hey, how do you know what my wife said...lol...actually this was a big surprise, we looked at footage this morning, saw some more rabbits, saw two stray dogs so far. Looking for Deer, anyway she suggested I either get another Thermal CAM and mount it to our Service Electric Pole to get better footage. WHAT??? Who is this person and what have they done with my wife, haha.

It would require burying underground cable but may be worth it. Only time I saw the Light Company come out they used a bucket truck to get to their lines so thinking they would not disturb the camera...
I was just blown away when my wife suggested it...

Hmmm, had to reboot to get color back...
