Re: raspIPC.tv - Cameras on your TV made Easy.

@nayr: I translated the language file to Slovak. Where do you want me to upload to?

Sent from my mobile communication device.

Here is Dropbox link to the file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18476770/locale-en.json

Re: raspIPC.tv - Cameras on your TV made Easy.

Hi @nayr
are we getting an easter egg from Denver?
Thanks @kozmo2k - we are the translators for now.
Any nativ spanish and french speaking people who are able to contribute to this project?

It took me about 20 min to translate - no big deal compared what nayr did for us.

Thanks

Cbally

@kozmo2k Thanks very much, I will commit it to the repository for you.

@cball, I sure hope so.. blizzard basically halted all work, all day yesterday the internet was down more than it was up.. power was flakey, and we all took a snow day :D

its melting now, I have resupplied on caffeine and other substances needed for long coding sessions and I am eager to get this wrapped up and rolled out.. its been a crazy week, nothing has gone to plan.. I had been so busy working on this and other things I had not checked the weather and it caught me totally by surprise, thats what I get for letting my guard down in Colorado.

All roads closed? no problem, redrocks is close enough:

@nayr You don't need to excuse.
I just wanted to support you and let you know, that there are a bunch of people looking forward for what is coming.:cheerful::cheerful:

When I See that picture, I would rather go skiiing than coding.
when we have that much snow here, this would be a national catastrophy here.
@nayr are you bringing up the demo up for testing pupuses again before the first release?

I have a huge appreciation to this project. Can not wait to get this up and running when I get all of my cams setup. Thank you very much for your continued work on this excellent project.

Snow day? Holly schmolly! I've been running around in shorts all day yesterday and today! And this evening, we had to turn the A/C on, because the breeze stopped and the humidity went up ahead of the "cool front" hitting us tomorrow. Gonna drop down to 50's again...yea st...

Loaded the OS in the new Pi I just got and it was 1980 all over again, just like with the Sinclair Z80 kit. Now to learn how to use this.

My SD-card with rpisurv crashed last night.
I wait until @nayr has finished his release 1.0 of his fabulous project - hopefully this will not take long any more.
@bob2701 rpisurv also uses omxplayer to display cams but doesn't have as much features as RasPipC will have.
Lets just wait, even if that gets harder every day.

Edited: @nayr I don't delete my post, because it is kind of a different answer to the same question - OK?

that command is erroneous, as thats using ssh against github which most people wont have setup by default..

try: git clone https://github.com/SvenVD/rpisurv.git

I am making progress today, holiday weekend wont be easy to release.. Surprise visit from grandparents out of state and impromptu family get together sunday.. so dont hold your breath.

that sux @cball, what card did you have? Ive had the most luck lately with Samsung Pro series, they a bit expensive and the Pi cant use most of the speed.. but the quality is what your after and the random IO is worth the premium alone.

I hooked a relay up to my monitor so I can shut it on/off, trying to implement that into raspIPC so others can use it too.

@nayr no problem with my card - I tried to update and I guess I messed it up. For all testing and the cards in the HIKVISION's I just take the one's on sale at ALDI (Medion)

What are you planing with the monitor? Aren't there any commands to put the monitor in standby? I just used Google and found:

Code:
/opt/vc/bin/ das Tool [B]tvservice[/B]
 Code:

Usage: tvservice [OPTION]...
-p, --preferred Power on HDMI with preferred settings
-e, --explicit="GROUP MODE DRIVE" Power on HDMI with explicit GROUP (CEA, DMT, CEA_3D_SBS, CEA_3D_TB)
MODE (see --modes) and DRIVE (HDMI, DVI)
-c, --sdtvon="MODE ASPECT" Power on SDTV with MODE (PAL or NTSC) and ASPECT (4:3 14:9 or 16:9)
-o, --off Power off the display
-m, --modes=GROUP Get supported modes for GROUP (CEA, DMT)
  -M, --monitor Monitor HDMI events
  -s, --status Get HDMI status
-a, --audio Get supported audio information
-d, --dumpedid <filename> Dump EDID information to file
-j, --json Use JSON format for --modes output
But I think whats missing is a general control of power of the Raspi.
I'm planning to use the system with people who never used an Raspi before, so there should be a posibility to down or reboot the system.

Can you display the IP-Adress for about 10 min after boot as kind of an overlay?

might be able to add a restart button somewhere so you dont have to dig it out to cycle power just incase.. but I was not planning on running this as root so I'll have to do some extra system setup to allow this.

the tvservice commands wont work once you have 4 feeds or more running.. its a limitation on the Pi... So I am not even going to bother implementing it if it stops working at a certain point.

if I can figure a way to modify omxplayer so it releases its lock on the bus then I will.. I tried a few easy things and did not have any luck.. so at this point if you want the ability to turn the display on/off your going to want to get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Iot-Relay-Enclosed-High-power-Raspberry/dp/B00WV7GMA2 and use the GPIO to control that.

I would also like to have an power down button, to savely shutdown the system.

Too bad the tvservice commands won't work - we use them in our company, but there we only have a browser running and thats works fine.

Wait a minute: If you kill all the omxplayerprosses when you want to shutdown the monitor and then send the tvservice command - will that not work?

yeah I was very let down by that, the bus only allows 4 connections so it throws an error when more than 3 are loaded.. omxplayer tosses the exact same error about being unable to connect to tvservice but it continues on and displays the video w/out problem.. so I need to trick omxplayer to fake connecting to tvservice but not actually doing so.. logically it seems possible, but nobody has fixed it yet so its on me apparently..

maby I can setup a tvservice proxy or something that starts before the streams and claims one of the tvservice bus's, so when I need to send a on/off command I have the ability to..

That sounds like a good idea and you should definitely spend some time in it.
I prefer a solution to put the monitor in standby than use a relais box.

Are you able to bring up the demo again - so hopefully more people are going to translate, French, Spanish and Portuguese would be nice to start with.

I have already spent alot of time on it and gotten practically nowhere.. but I havent given up yet, sucks for me my monitor when I put HDMI to sleep just shows a test pattern and never actually shuts off.. it dont have any energy saver features can you believe that crap!? Well it was a freebie, so what can I expect.. I'd like to replace it with a nice IPS display that has wide viewing angles and real energy saver features.. but I'd have to get one at a steal of a deal as those features alone are not worth another >$100 ontop of this project.

so sadly, I have to use the relay box right now one way or another.. im not too happy about that, but it is what it is.
