Do I need a static IP address?

It's not essential, you can use a dynamic DNS (DDNS) service. Lots of routers usually have a DDNS client built in that you could configure. In my opinion, it's a little easier with a static IP but the extra cost does add up over time. The advantage I see is that the VPN connectivity would be a...

    Camera for License Plates

A camera salesperson once told me that 'LPR' cameras have special f/w that pulses the IR leds synced to the shutter speed (or AC line frequency) to assist with the plate capture. Not sure how much truth to that there is or it was just marketing.

How can I access cameras w/2 NICs?

The BI machine will probably need to be Win 10 Pro to allow RDP connections. The setting to allow remote connections is also likely to be off by default.

Not sure what model you are seeing but I'm pretty sure most NUCs are not fanless. If yours has a heatsink, that may be a custom lid.

    help tuning night LPR ?

What happens when the neighbours park their cars in the driveway as pictured ? I would try opening the shutter a little longer to 1/500. This may work for slower vehicles.

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

Been a while since I used esxi 5.5. Is the latest host version still free? Multiple VMs on a recording box may not be wise, but good effort in getting it going.

Trouble with remote desktop after latest Win 10 updates?

I had some problems with RDP after Windows updates but the issue appears to be different to yours. There seems to be problems relating to differing security levels when connecting to other machines. If you've recently updated one, try updating the other to ensure they have similar revisions.

First time setup new cameras w/second NIC/no internet

You will create two networks. The cctv network can be any lan address, eg 192.168.xxx.0, SM 255.255.255.0. You don't need a gateway. Your cameras should reside on this same subnet. For the NIC connected to your router, use the LAN you are already using. eg. 192.168.1. Make sure the cctv...

White light in B&W mode? Not getting a great picture.

Doesn't seem that your lights are turning on. Are you sure it's working correctly? In your B/W shots, the illumination appears to be purely from the camera's built in IR

    power supply question

Still using analogue cameras or not using the POE ?. Using the formula, P=VI, current draw on the power supply will be approx 0.46 Amps. For two cameras, current requirements will be double (wattage or power per camera does not change). I would purchase a power supply with a minimum spec of 1.5A

A complex issue with a camera connecting to NVR - Can not find network host

View 2remote Cameras [same router with PublicIP] on the local_NVR

Firstly, port forwarding is the old way of doing things and a security risk. Is there an NVR in the store ? You may try port forwarding to the NVR to view associated cameras. What about the firewall at the office end?, that also needs ports open to allow traffic into the network. What you are...

Dahua - is your city safe enough yet? In 1984 it can be!

Agree, I'm sure their products work individually but integrating everything city wide to be seamless is another story. Lots of people struggle to configure an IP address or a VPN at moment :blankstare: . I think their promo is at least 5 years ahead of itself.
